Summary: A pH/reduction-sensitive carboxymethyl chitosan nanogel modified by targeting peptide angiopep-2 loaded with doxorubicin shows promising potential for targeted chemotherapy of glioblastoma. The targeted nanogel exhibited good stability, biocompatibility, and enhanced BBB penetration and tumor targeting ability, leading to higher drug uptake and stronger antitumor activity compared to nontargeted nanogels. This innovative nanogel platform with pH/reduction dual-stimuli response may hold great significance for GBM-targeted therapy.

Summary: A novel nanogel composed of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and pullulan (Pull) was prepared using a simple and green irradiation protocol. The synthesized nanogels were modified with bovine serum albumin (BSA) and folic acid (FA), and then loaded with doxorubicin (DOX) to obtain a delivery system with tumor-specific targeting ability and enhanced biocompatibility. In vitro studies showed that the DOX release from the nanogels was higher in acidic media, which is advantageous for tumor targeting. MTT assay and DAPI staining demonstrated the effectiveness of DOX-loaded nanogels on cancer cells. Neat nanogels showed no destructive effects on both cell lines. Overall, the biocompatible and tumor-specific nanogels hold promise as safe drug carriers for cancer therapy.

Summary: Nisin-loaded carboxymethyl chitosan nanogels (CN NGs) were prepared through a combination method of electrostatic self-assembly and chemical cross-linking, demonstrating good dispersion and spherical structure. The main driving force in the formation of CN NGs was found to be the electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding between nisin and CMCS. Additionally, the CN NGs exhibited controlled release behavior of nisin and excellent antimicrobial activity, indicating their potential as a bio-preservative in the food industry.

Summary: Stimulus-responsive nanomaterials have shown promise in controllable drug delivery systems for cancer therapy. In this study, iron (III) carboxylate metal-organic framework nanoparticles coated with glycyr- rhetinic acid-chitosan conjugate were successfully fabricated as a pH-responsive and target-selective system for delivering doxorubicin to hepatocellular carcinoma cells. The nanocarriers exhibited uniform size, high drug loading efficiency, and pH-dependent controlled drug release. In vitro experiments demonstrated their excellent inhibitory effects on cancer cells and targeted delivery ability. The results suggest that these nanoparticles have potential applications in cancer therapy as a pH-responsive controlled drug delivery system.

Summary: In this study, a dual stabilization method called coaxial electrospinning was used to prepare core-shell nanofibers for food packaging materials. The nanofibers were loaded with carboxymethyl chitosan-nisin nanogels as antibacterial agents. The nanofibers exhibited smooth surface, enhanced thermal stability, mechanical strength, and excellent antibacterial activity. They effectively extended the shelf life of bass fish from 9 days to 15 days. These core-shell nanofibers have great potential as food packaging materials for preserving aquatic products.

Summary: This study successfully developed a method for synthesizing 2-hydroxystilbene derivatives, using hydrolysis of natural coumarins followed by in situ decarboxylative Heck coupling with haloarenes. The reaction conditions were fine-tuned to exclusively produce 2-hydroxystyrylbenzenes, avoiding the formation of other possible side products such as benzofuran or substituted coumarins.
