Summary: The master QS regulator OpaR in Vibrio parahaemolyticus directly regulates a group of genes to impact the concentration of c-di-GMP, which in turn influences behaviors such as biofilm formation. This direct association between QS and c-di-GMP metabolism allows for precise control of gene transcription and bacterial behaviors.

Summary: This study reveals that the food-borne pathogen Vibrio parahaemolyticus uses quorum sensing signals to regulate the production of its virulence factor T6SS2. CIQS inhibits T6SS2 production through an OpaR-dependent mechanism and also inhibits the adhesion activity of the bacteria to host cells.

Summary: Mature biofilm formation by Vibrio parahaemolyticus requires the coordination of multiple factors including exopolysaccharide, type IV pili, and capsular polysaccharide. This coordination is regulated by control pathways such as quorum sensing and c-di-GMP. The QsvR regulator integrates into the quorum sensing regulatory cascade and works together with OpaR to control biofilm formation by regulating the transcription of multiple biofilm-related genes and c-di-GMP metabolism.

Summary: This study found that Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 2057 can effectively inhibit the formation of Vibrio parahaemolyticus biofilm and interfere with its adhesion ability. In addition, the extract of L. plantarum Z057 significantly reduces the biofilm biomass, metabolic activity, and various important components of V. parahaemolyticus. These findings suggest that L. plantarum 2057 could be a biocontrol strategy alternative to chemical methods against foodborne pathogens.

Summary: Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a significant food-borne pathogen. The study showed that the three signal synthases, CqsA(vp), LuxM(vp), and LuxS(vp), are essential for activating quorum sensing and regulating swarming in V. parahaemolyticus. The absence of these synthases leads to swarming defects.

Summary: In Vibrio parahaemolyticus, the expression of T3SS1 is regulated by a complex quorum sensing phosphorelay circuit involving the hybrid histidine kinase ArcB, sensor kinase LuxQ, and response regulator LuxO. The study shows that LuxQ can directly interact with ArcB under high oxygen conditions, leading to phosphorylation of LuxO and activation of T3SS1 expression. Under hypoxic conditions, ArcB autophosphorylates and phosphorylates ArcA, but ArcA does not participate in regulating T3SS1 expression.

Summary: Vibrio parahaemolyticus produces two types of IV pili, MSHA and ChiRP, both of which are required for biofilm formation and pathogen persistence. In this study, it was shown that the master quorum sensing regulators, AphA and OpaR, oppositely regulated the transcription of the pilin encoding gene mshA1. This regulation resulted in a gradual increase in mshA1 expression levels from low to high cell density, demonstrating a mechanism for controlling biofilm formation.

Summary: In this study, a novel gene, VP0143, was identified to positively regulate the biofilm formation of Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Deletion of VP0143 resulted in decreased biofilm formation, weakened flagella-mediated motility and surface hydrophobicity. The study also revealed that VP0143 deletion affected the production of certain biofilm components and led to a loosened biofilm structure.

Summary: Using a novel tricompartmental hydrazone ligand, a set of trinuclear Dy-3 complexes with different anions (Cl-, Br-, or ClO4-) and co-ligands were isolated and characterized. The magnetic properties of these complexes vary due to structural disorder and different relaxation processes, with Dy-3 center dot ClO4 showing the most robust magnetic behavior. The magneto-structural relationships were analyzed and rationalized using CASSCF/RASSI-SO calculations.

Summary: It was found in this study that the global regulator RovM could activate the expression of the hmsB gene, promoting biofilm formation in Yersinia pestis. However, RovM did not bind directly to the upstream DNA region of hmsB, suggesting an indirect regulatory mechanism. These results contribute to the understanding of regulatory circuits controlling gene expression in Y. pestis.

Summary: Theoretical investigations on mixed-valence dilan-thanide complexes (CpiPr5)2Ln2I3 (Ln = Tb, Dy, and Ho) suggest that the total spin of the 4f shell couples preferentially to the sigma electron spin and then to the orbital angular momentum, enhancing the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) strength. Moreover, the concentration of negative charges in the axial direction leads to a large crystal-field (CF) splitting. Both strong SOC and large CF splitting contribute to the largest energy barrier Ueff observed in such complexes so far. Additionally, the introduction of sigma electrons effectively suppresses the quantum tunneling of magnetization in the ground spin-orbit state, and the Ueff of (CpiPr5)2Ln2I3 is expected to result from the contribution of both Ln ions under strong Ln-sigma exchange coupling.
