Summary: Thirteen new benzamide alkaloids were isolated from Delphinium anthriscifolium. Compound 1 possesses a previously undescribed carbon framework. Compound 2 is an artifact formed during the extraction process. Compound 7 is glycosylated while compound 13 contains a chlorine substituent. Compounds 6, 8, and 10-12 showed significant inhibition of LPS-induced NO production in cells.

Summary: In this study, the first asymmetric total synthesis of two hetidine-type C-20-diterpenoid alkaloids was reported. A highly regio- and diastereoselective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of an azomethine ylide was utilized to yield a chiral tetracyclic intermediate, serving as the basis for the asymmetric assembly of the hexacyclic hetidine skeleton. Another key transformation involved the dearomative cyclopropanation of the benzene ring and subsequent S(N)2-like ring opening to establish the B ring and install the equatorial C7-OH group.

Summary: Chromatographic investigation of Rhazya stricta resulted in the isolation of two new monoterpene indole alkaloids, along with six known compounds. These compounds exhibited cytotoxic effects against three cancer cells, with compound 2 showing the most potent cytotoxic effect and inducing apoptosis in the cells.

Summary: The first and asymmetric total syntheses of two C11-oxygenated hetisine-type diterpenoid alkaloids, (+)-davisinol and (+)-18-benzoyldavisinol, were described. The concise synthetic approach involved a HAT-initiated transannular redox radical cyclization, an ODI-Diels-Alder cycloaddition, and an acylative kinetic resolution, streamlining the synthetic design of C-20-diterpenoid alkaloids and paving the way for their modular syntheses.

Summary: This study evaluated the toxicity of curcumin-loaded micelles in vitro and in vivo on tumor cell lines, stromal cells, and zebrafish embryos. The results showed that nanocurcumin exhibited toxicity to both tumor and stromal cells, as well as disrupted the development of zebrafish embryos.

Summary: This research identified four novel diterpenoid alkaloids from Delphinium brunonianum with activity reducing hepatocytes lipid accumulation. One of the alkaloids showed the strongest inhibitory effect. The study provides experimental evidence for the chemical composition of D. brunonianum and its potential in treating diseases related to lipid accumulation.

Summary: This study identified four important markers in Aconitum carmichaelii and 15 markers to differentiate it from adulterant species. Mesaconitine and hypaconitine were found to be the principal toxins in fuzi, while fuziline and benzoylmesaconine were associated with its medicinal properties. The detection of additional marker compounds in other Aconitum species can be useful in identifying adulteration.

Summary: This review systematically summarizes the composition and bioactivities of C-18-diterpenoid alkaloids in plants from the genera Aconitum and Delphinium, highlighting their potential as a vast resource for drug discovery. Additionally, it emphasizes the chemical taxonomic value of these compounds as good chemical molecular markers in the taxonomic treatment, particularly in the infrageneric division of plants within the Delphineae tribe.

Summary: In this study, a new denudatine-type C-20-diterpenoid alkaloid named arcutisine was isolated from the roots of Aconitum fischeri var. arcuatum, along with 24 known compounds. The structures were elucidated through spectroscopic analyses. The isolation of compounds 1 and 2 from natural sources for the first time, and the weak anti-inflammatory activity of compounds 7 and 10 at a concentration of 40 μM were notable findings.

Summary: In this study, DESI-MSI combined with metabolomics was used to investigate the processing of Fuzi, revealing the impact of different steaming times on its pharmacological activities and toxicity. The selected metabolic markers were visualized by DESI-MSI, and the content of six index alkaloids was determined by HPLC. The results showed that 4 hours was the appropriate time for toxicity attenuation and efficacy preservation of Fuzi.
