Summary: The study found that children's recreational screen time has increased significantly, with most children failing to comply with health recommendations from health organizations. Boys spend more time on video games than girls, and modifiable variables such as parental TV time, often keeping the background TV on, and watching TV alone are independent factors influencing excessive screen time for children.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of combining commercial video games with actual basketball practice in improving students' reasoning skills. The findings show a significant moderate effect in the students who participated in the training program. Additionally, sex differences in spatial and deductive reasoning disappeared in the post-test. The study discusses the educational implications of using video games as the main learning tool to enhance the reasoning process of secondary education students in physical education.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the associations between demographics, family exercise participation, family discouragement of exercise, and the children's physical and sedentary behaviors. The results showed that sedentary activity was higher for racial minority children, while mobile phone and tablet use were higher for adolescents. Racial minority children also reported higher exercise game use. Male children, children perceived to have a healthy weight status, and younger children engaged in more strenuous physical activity. Family exercise participation and family discouragement of exercise were significantly higher in racial minority families. Future research should focus on methods to engage both parents and children participating in medical weight management in physical activities together to ensure sustainability.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between television viewing/physical activity (TVV/PA) interactions and cardiometabolic risk in an adult European population. The results showed significant associations between high TVV/insufficient PA and cardiometabolic variables such as body mass index, waist circumference, body fat percent, glucose, triglycerides, and high density lipoprotein. The study also found that sedentary routines pose independent cardiometabolic risk even in subjects with high levels of physical activity.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of screen time on health and academic performance on school days and non-school days, and identified different screen time profiles using cluster analysis. The results showed that adolescents with higher screen time had poorer health behaviors and academic performance, while those with lower screen time showed the opposite pattern.

Summary: Studies suggest serious video games may have a positive impact on the treatment of disordered eating, but challenges exist in designing these games to avoid potential pitfalls such as excessive stress or gaming addiction. Further research is needed to evaluate the long-term benefits of SVGs and explore their potential preventive effects on disordered eating.

Summary: This study used compositional data analysis (CoDA) to analyze the associations between fat and lean tissues with cardiometabolic risk factors. It found that excess visceral fat contributes to less-favorable cardiometabolic risk factors. Displacing equivalent mass from visceral fat into other tissues resulted in meaningful decreases in the metabolic syndrome score.

Summary: This study found an association between social media use and physical activity among Canadian adolescents. Non-active social media use was associated with lower odds of meeting daily physical activity recommendations and high engagement in all five domains of physical activity. Intense social media use was associated with higher odds of meeting physical activity recommendations.
