Summary: The study identified specific lncRNAs in Androctonus crassicauda and analyzed their characteristics using a stringent filtering pipeline and machine learning tools. The majority of these lncRNAs were found to be novel with no identifiable orthologs in closely related species. The analysis revealed unique features of A. crassicauda lncRNAs, including lower protein-coding potential, lower GC content, shorter transcript length, and less number of isoform per gene.

Summary: The study found that exercise training helped skeletal muscle counteract age-related sarcopenia by inducing a wide range of adaptations, sustained by the expression of protein-coding genes. Non-coding RNAs also play a crucial role in orchestrating gene expression during this process.

Summary: RNA polymerase II (POL II) is responsible for transcribing mRNAs and lncRNAs. The structural features of the POL II core promoters of mRNA precursors show evolutionary invariance. In this study, we analyzed the POL II core promoters of lncRNA precursors in Homo sapiens and Mus musculus genomes. The 3D structure of lncRNA core promoters resembles that of mRNA core promoters, but there are differences in their textual characteristics. These textual differences, including higher informational entropy and rare occurrence of consensus sequences, can significantly affect lncRNA transcription efficiency.

Summary: This study analyzed small non-coding RNAs (sncRNAs) in patients with gastrointestinal cancer and found dysregulation of muscle-specific microRNAs in cancer-induced muscle wasting. The study also discovered an association between changes in circulating microRNAs and the level of muscularity at body composition analysis. SncRNAs in muscle were assessed by RNAseq, while circulating microRNAs were evaluated by qPCR.

Summary: This study investigated the biological roles and mechanisms of chimeric genes in pigs using weighted co-expression network analysis. The results showed that most protein domains of chimeric genes were derived from fused pre-genes and were involved in negative regulation of cell proliferation and protein localization to centrosomes. Additionally, chimeric genes were related to the growth factor-beta superfamily and played a key role in regulating T cell pathways.

Summary: Stipagrostis pennata is a pioneer plant species with the potential to stabilize sand dunes and assist in ecological restoration in extreme desert environments. The use of single-molecule real-time sequencing technology revealed a complete full-length transcriptome of this species, highlighting the presence of stress resistance genes that may aid in desert adaptation. Rapid evolution and strong positive selection were observed in genes related to material transportation, flowering, and seed formation, shedding light on the evolutionary adaptability of desert grass species.
