Summary: Observation of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) has revolutionized the molecular design of highly efficient OLEDs. The effectiveness of TADF is largely determined by the first-order mixing coefficient (lambda) and the difference between singlet and triplet excited state energies (Delta E-ST). While Delta E-ST has been the main focus, the influence of spin-orbit coupling (H-SO) has been overlooked. In this study, TADF materials with increased H-SO are achieved by substituting heteroatoms with heavy-atom selenium, resulting in remarkable EQEs.

Summary: Experimental light and dark current density-voltage (J-V) curves of bulkheterojunction (BHJ) P3HT:PCBM and bilayer (BL) P3HT/PCBM based organic solar cells (OSCs) were fitted with the ideal single diode model to estimate the values of the ideality factor n and the order of reverse saturation current J(0). The results showed similar parameter values for both BHJ and BL OSCs under illumination, and different parameter values for dark J-V curves. The difference in parameter values was explained by limited transport in the OSCs' active layer and the contribution of photogenerated carriers to recombination current.

Summary: The effect of different thicknesses of the P3HT:PCBM layer on the photocurrent spectra (PCS) of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:PCBM/Al organic photovoltaic devices (OPVs) was studied. It was found that for thinner devices, the PCS showed a good correlation with the P3HT:PCBM absorption spectrum, while a pronounced red shift was observed for thicker OPVs. The drift-diffusion model (DDM) simulations showed that reducing the surface recombination velocity (SRV) of majority carriers at the electrode affected the normalized PCS, while surface recombination had no influence on the normalized PCS for balanced hole and electron transport.

Summary: This study demonstrates that Janus two-dimensional (2D) materials with low symmetry exhibit strong nonlinear optical responses, including circular photocurrent and large out-of-plane second harmonic generation. The enhancement of out-of-plane second harmonic generation in Janus heterostructures compared to monolayer materials is attributed to interlayer coupling and interference effects. This discovery provides a unique opportunity for exploring nonlinear optical phenomena and designing configurable layered nonlinear optical materials.

Summary: An experimental investigation of non-uniform circumferential temperature distribution (CTD) of a PTC absorber was conducted, with a focus on the effects of focal length, absorber diameter, and outer glass cover (OGC). The most uniform and profitable flux distribution was found for a diameter of 0.042 m and a focal distance of 0.19 m. Additionally, the highest CTD uniformity was reported for a distance of 0.19 m, with an increase in uniformity observed for the use of OGC.
