Unexpected synthesis of N-(1H-inden-1-yl)pyridin-2-amine derivatives from the same precursors was also documented using Cu(I) catalyst.

Summary: Carba and heterocyclic benzoin derivatives were synthesized by Sonogashira coupling of alkynes with 1,2-dihaloalkenes and oxidation of the alkyne to a 1,2-diketone. Suzuki-Miyaura reaction and Pd-catalyzed nucleophilic addition to the carbonyl group were utilized for the formation of cyclic benzoin derivatives from the product of the Pd-catalyzed reaction with (2-bromophenyl)boronic acid in the presence of phenylacetylene. Previously unprecedented 5-hydroxy-5-phenylbenzo[b]naphtho[1,2-d]thiophene-6(5H)-ones and their regioisomers were prepared from 2,3-dibromobenzothiophene. Phenanthrene benzoin derivatives were synthesized from 2-bromo-1-iodobenzene.

Summary: A novel intramolecular 1,6 oxa-Michael addition reaction was reported to obtain 5 and 6 member ring lactones in a one-pot reaction starting from activated pyridinyl propenones, without organic catalysis or bulky groups in the Michael acceptor. The regioselectivity of ring closure was found to be dependent on the propenone used.

Summary: In this study, we developed a novel method for synthesizing fused regioselective tricyclic furo[3,2-c]chromen and bicyclic imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine using a sequential intramolecular ring-closure-opening-closure pathway. The reaction was catalyzed by an organo-base catalyst and did not require any additional catalyst. The protocol showed good yields and provided practical access to these compounds.

Summary: The efficient one-pot Michael addition-cyclization reaction under microwave irradiation has been developed for the synthesis of 6H-chromeno[4',3' : 4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine. This protocol allows for the synthesis of twenty structurally diversified imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines in high yield, showing the significant advantages of a wide range of functional groups tolerance, operational simplicity, and short reaction times.

Summary: In this study, a low-metal iron-supported catalyst (Fe20/NC-Mg) was reported for the efficient synthesis of quinoxaline compounds, using water as a solvent and without additional bases. The synergistic effect of FeNx site and Mg (OH)2 nanorods in the catalyst played a key role in achieving high yields (82-91%) in 16 examples. The gram-level synthesis and reusability of the catalysts after four cycles demonstrated its industrial application potential.
