Summary: A new method for the differential dihydrofunctionalization of terminal alkynes has been developed, enabling the synthesis of allylic boronate esters through a reductive three-component coupling reaction. This transformation, promoted by a copper/palladium catalyst system, hydrofunctionalizes both pi-bonds of the alkyne. The method is compatible with a wide range of functional groups.

Summary: The copper-free Heck-Cassar-Sonogashira (HCS) reaction is a powerful method for C-C bond formation in organic synthesis and has several industrial applications. This study investigated the mechanism of the copper-free HCS reaction by conducting stoichiometric and catalytic reactions and analyzing the role of the base. The results showed that the base can accelerate the reduction of the precatalyst and decrease the energy barrier for the alkyne carbopalladation step.

Summary: In this work, a novel fluorescence active benzotriazole-coumarin derivative, BTANC, was synthesized as a ligand in Pd(II) cation coordination. It was found that Pd(II) effectively quenched the fluorescence of BTANC, indicating the potential of using fluorescence signal to monitor the completion of the Sonogashira coupling reaction.

Summary: Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction is a powerful method to construct carbon-carbon bonds and is widely used in the synthesis of functional organic compounds. In this study, zeolite-encased Pd particles (Pd@MFI) were successfully prepared and investigated as promising heterogeneous catalysts for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. The Pd@MFI catalysts showed high activity, with dispersed Pd particles efficiently stabilized within the MFI zeolite matrix. The presence of basic sites adjacent to Pd sites was crucial for achieving high catalytic activity.

Summary: Catalytic Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions are efficient and versatile for constructing complex alkynes from readily available starting materials. However, the development of transition-metal-catalyzed Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions of alkyl electrophiles is still limited. Current research focuses on the application of palladium, nickel, and copper catalysts, as well as achieving asymmetric Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions.

Summary: Type II photoelimination reactions are crucial in biological systems, and nitro substituents have unusual effects in aryl ketones. The low quantum yield for the formation of nitro substituent may be due to rapid deactivation of the carbonyl localized state. Research on these reactions is important in understanding their mechanisms and effects.

Summary: A carbon-doped g-C3N4 (CGNS) nanocomposite with Ag2O and alpha-Fe2O3 was synthesized to enhance the photocatalytic activity for Acid Red 14 (AR14) degradation. The nanocomposite showed improved performance in the visible-light absorption range and effectively suppressed charge carrier recombination, leading to stable photocatalytic efficiency. Studies on scavengers revealed the influential role of superoxide anion radicals in AR14 degradation compared to hydroxyl radicals and holes, indicating the potential for practical applications.
