Summary: Here, a simple method for synthesizing water-soluble fullerene derivatives with five residues of amino acids is presented. This method allows for the use of a wide range of amino acids, including those that are unstable under traditional reaction conditions. Additionally, the nature of the sixth addend X in the precursor compounds does not affect the synthesis, allowing for the production of fullerene derivatives with various X values. These derivatives have demonstrated promising antiviral activities against a rimantadine-resistant influenza A/Puerto Rico/8/34 (H1N1) virus in vitro.

Summary: An efficient multigram synthesis method for alkynyl amino acid Fmoc-L-homopropargylglycine-OH is described. The optimized Boc protection and Seyferth-Gilbert homologation resulted in high material throughput and avoidance of racemization, respectively. The enantiopure (>98% ee) noncanonical amino acid can be readily generated for solid phase synthesis of functionalized peptides.

Summary: This study describes a series of new chalcones that contain fluorine atoms on the B ring and exhibit antiproliferative activity against human tumor cells. Some of these compounds showed potent antiproliferative effects on certain tumor cells without cytotoxicity towards normal cells. The antiproliferative and cytotoxic effects were mediated through apoptosis. Molecular docking study suggested that these compounds interfere with cell division.

Summary: Cancer cells evade T cell-mediated killing through unknown mechanisms. Dendritic cells, especially type-1 conventional DCs, play a crucial role in T cell priming and therapeutic efficacy against tumors. The function of dendritic cells is orchestrated by pattern recognition receptors, but other signals involved are not fully defined. Nutrients have been identified as emerging mediators of adaptive immunity, but their impact on dendritic cell function and communication between innate and adaptive immune cells is still unclear.

Summary: This study reports a practical method for the synthesis of alpha-amino acid derivatives via direct hydrative amination of activated alkynes using sulfinamides as the nitrogen source under mild conditions. Computational studies suggest that the reaction is enabled by a new type of sulfonium [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement.

Summary: A series of new naphthalimide derivatives have been designed and synthesized, among which compound 7c displayed the strongest anti-tumor activity with the best selectivity for HepG2 cells. It was found that 7c induced HepG2 cell apoptosis, hindered cancer cell migration, and arrested the cell cycle at the G2/M phase. Mechanism studies revealed that 7c selectively induced a G-rich HRCC DNA sequence in the mitochondria to form a G-quadruplex structure, causing mitochondrial dysfunction and ultimately leading to proliferative inhibition and apoptosis of cancer cells.

Summary: Our research identified a previously unrecognized ADAMTS1-PTN-Wnt pathway in regulating adipose precursor cell behavior. The non-muscle myosin protein MYH9 was found to be a key target of this pathway for modulating adipogenesis. These findings offer potential for developing novel therapeutics for obesity and related metabolic disorders.
