Summary: Mono-copper substituted phosphotungstate (PW11Cu) was supported on alumina by wet impregnation method for catalyzing the oxidation of styrene. The superiority of the catalyst was explained based on the Lewis acidity of aluminum, which was confirmed through optimization of reaction parameters and detailed kinetic study.

Summary: An electrooxidation strategy mediated by reactive oxygen species is proposed for the selective transformation of styrene to benzaldehyde. The study reveals that OH and O-2(-) species, formed through anodic water oxidation, play a crucial role in the selective formation of benzaldehyde.

Summary: The study investigated the reaction kinetics of SC synthesis using a SiO2-PPI catalyst, finding no mass transfer limitations and a good fit with the Eley-Rideal kinetic model. The catalyst exhibited excellent reusability for up to five cycles with no substantial decrease in activity or selectivity towards SC formation.

Summary: This study successfully improved the catalytic activity and selectivity of styrene hydrogenation by preparing nickel catalysts supported on niobium-doped cerium oxide. The influence of niobium on the interaction with the support and the optimal nickel loading was investigated through characterization and reaction pathway modeling. The results provide insights into the enhanced catalytic performance achieved by introducing niobium in the catalyst system.

Summary: [Fe(OTf)(2)(FOX)] (A) is a robust iron(II) complex used as a homogeneous catalyst for the dehydration of 1-phenylethanol to styrene, showing high catalytic efficiency at low catalyst loadings and moderate reaction temperatures. It selectively activates the benzylic alcohol group of 1-phenylethanol, challenging due to the high reactivity of the vinyl system in styrene. The mechanism of this E1-type transformation and its competing S(N)1-type side reactions are discussed, and other characterized derivatives include [Fe(cHexOH)(OTf)(FOX)][OTf] (B), [Fe(H2O)(2)(FOX)][OTf](2) (C), and [mu-O{Fe(OTf)(FOX)}(2)][OTf](2) (D).

Summary: Ab initio CCSD(T)-F12/cc-pVTZ-f12//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) calculations were combined with RRKM-ME calculations to investigate the mechanism and kinetics of the n-C4H5 + O-2 reaction. The results show the reaction is fast, with the main products being 1-oxo-n-butadienyl + O and acrolein + HCO, with a cumulative yield exceeding 90% at temperatures above 1500 K. Both products are formed through different pathways involving significant reorganization of the molecule's structure.

Summary: In this study, MnO2 with an asymmetric electronic configuration was designed to discriminate the spin-paired pi electrons of styrene. On the MnO2/(Ru0.3Ti0.7)O-2/Ti bifunctional anode, one of these discriminated pi electrons combined with reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as (OH)-O-center dot, (OOH)-O-center dot, etc., to form benzaldehyde via Grob fragmentation instead of benzoic acid. However, only benzoic acid was obtained from the oxidation of styrene on the anodes MOs/(Ru0.3Ti0.7)O-2/Ti, where MOs are other metal oxides with symmetric electronic configurations.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of Cl- on the corrosion behavior of carbon steel in an iron bacteria (IB) environment. The results show that a higher concentration of Cl- accelerates the anodic reaction and corrosion, but in the later stage of corrosion, a high concentration of Cl- inhibits the anodic reaction, thus suppressing corrosion.

Summary: The study compared the pyrolysis and oxidation processes of asphaltenes extracted from Yarega heavy crude oil and its residues in both nitrogen and air atmosphere. Different stages of pyrolysis and oxidation were identified, with varying characteristics observed for the different samples. Kinetic parameters were estimated and the findings can potentially contribute to the development of asphaltene processing methods in petroleum refineries.
