Summary: This study investigates the progressive structural alteration in the brains of patients with depression. The findings suggest that the alteration originates from the hippocampus and the ventral medial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) and gradually extends to other brain regions. The results also reveal potential causal effects between these regions. These findings provide further insights into the disease progression of depression.

Summary: The study aimed to test the null hypothesis that there are no significant differences in intracranial volumes between male and female fetuses. It also investigated the symmetry of the cerebral hemispheres in low-risk fetuses. The results showed that the total intracranial volume and brain parenchyma volume increased at a significantly greater rate in male fetuses compared to female fetuses after 24 gestational weeks. There were no differences in the left and right hemispherical volumes between genders, and they remained symmetrical.

Summary: The study developed a supramolecular magnetic resonance contrast agent for long-term whole-tissue observation in a single individual. The results showed that microvessels formed inside cancer tissues at the early stage are leaky, but they form continuous microvessels after 12 days.

Summary: The study found that younger participants had lower muscle MRI values of T2, FF, and mean diffusivity compared to middle-aged and older participants, while younger participants also exhibited higher muscle power and volume than middle-aged and older participants. Quantitative MRI measurements were correlated with frailty index, gait speed, grip strength, and muscle power, indicating that MRI can be used to detect muscle differences due to ageing and identify differences across age groups within muscle.

Summary: This study used MR elastography to investigate the mechanical properties of the brain in different etiologies of dementia. The results showed that different types of dementia are associated with unique patterns of mechanical alterations, which may be related to neurodegenerative processes.

Summary: This study found that blockade of p38 MAPK can reduce WAT browning in pancreatic cancer patients, which contributes to cancer-associated cachexia (CAC). Therefore, p38 MARK inhibitors have the potential to be used as a therapy for treating CAC. Additionally, non-invasive MRI can be applied to assess the progression and treatment responses of CAC.

Summary: This study explores issues related to gastric cancer biopsy, including the application of guidelines, the correlation between the number of tissue particles and tumor infiltrated area, and the actual number of captured tumor cells. The findings suggest a deviation from recommended standards in real-world practice and a weak correlation between tissue particle count, tumor-infiltrated area, and tumor cell count.

Summary: The study aimed to differentiate acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) subtypes by using multimodal imaging. Two main subtypes, retinal pigment epithelium-related CSC (RPE-CSC) and choroidal-related CSC (choroidal-CSC), were identified based on quantitative pachychoroid cutoff values, showing differing responses to treatment and development of macular neovascularization (MNV).

Summary: The study identified GABRD as a novel regulator of gastric cancer cell growth and function. High expression of GABRD mRNA in primary gastric cancer tissue was associated with poor prognosis. Anti-GABRD antibodies inhibited gastric cancer cell proliferation in vitro and decreased tumor nodule size in a mouse model, suggesting that GABRD may be a potential therapeutic target for gastric cancer.

Summary: This study evaluated the adaptation of myocardial kinetic energy (KE) in repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF) patients using tissue phase mapping (TPM). The study found that the adaptation of KE proportion occurred earlier than that of KE amplitude, and there was a disruption in biventricular balance of KE in rTOF patients.

Summary: PD-MCI is characterized by widespread structural and EEG abnormalities. Composite markers could be valuable for the individualized diagnosis of PD-MCI through machine learning. The SVM model based on qEEG and structural MR features showed high accuracy in identifying PD-MCI.

Summary: The severity of coronary stenosis is significantly associated with myocardial ischemia, and other stenosis parameters are related to the extent and severity of ischemia. A combination of stenosis length and minimal lumen diameter modeled by Poiseuille's law shows good diagnostic efficiency in predicting ischemic burden.

Summary: The complexity of ecosystem status assessment is highlighted, with multiple interacting drivers and cumulative effects posing challenges for mitigation and rehabilitation efforts. A holistic evaluation of degradation is necessary through the consideration of multiple indicators for a better understanding of ecosystem dynamics.
