Summary: NiCo2O4 powders with different morphologies were synthesized by hydrothermal treatment, and their properties were characterized. The specific surface areas of the particles decreased with increasing CTAB content. The porous cuboid-like NiCo2O4 powders exhibited the highest specific capacitance and showed a mixture of capacitive and diffusion-controlled processes. The porous cuboid-like NiCo2O4 powders//activated carbon hybrid capacitor showed comparable electrochemical energy storage performance.

Summary: Drug-resistant bacteria pose a serious threat to public health, highlighting the need for broad-spectrum antibacterial agents that do not cause drug resistance. In this study, different morphologies of nano-silver-modified polyphosphazene nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized. The results showed that the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles varies depending on their immobilized form, with stronger bactericidal effects on Gram-positive bacteria.

Summary: Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) capped rhenium (Re0@CTA(aq)) NPs were prepared in an aqueous solution at room temperature using a chemical reduction method. The resulting Re0@CTA(aq) sol was used as a sacrificial template to synthesize silver-rhenium bimetallic NPs (Ag0-Re0@CTA(aq)) using silver ions (Ag+) through a metal displacement galvanic cell reaction in the presence of CTAB. The optical properties of the resulting Ag0-Re0@CTA(aq) NPs were influenced by the concentration of CTAB, resulting in a blue shift of the Plasmon band.

Summary: A novel method for the synthesis of gold nano-dogbones with high shape homogeneity and narrow size distribution is reported. The addition of CTAB, Cl- and Ag+ ions promotes the formation of concave surfaces in the nano-dogbones. The unique features of the Au-NDBs make them good candidates for SERS applications, particularly in the detection of low concentrations of 4-aminothiophenol.

Summary: In this study, α-NiMoO4 nanostructures with platelike and nanorod-like morphologies were grown directly on nickel foam using different amounts of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as surfactant. The morphology transformed from platelike to nanorod-like with increasing amounts of CTAB. The nanorod-like α-NiMoO4 sample exhibited the highest specific capacity of 2226 Fg-1 at 1 Ag-1 and the highest capability rate of 80% at a current density of 5 Ag-1. Moreover, the α-NiMoO4 electrodes with nanorod-like morphology showed the highest electrocatalytic activity, with the lowest overpotential of -177 mV at 10 mA cm-2 and the lowest Tafel slope of 79 mV dec-1.

Summary: In this study, the intercalated CTAB broadened the interspacing of the MoS2 and enhanced its reactivity. By growing CTAB-MoS2 vertically on reduced graphene oxide (rGO), a unique nanowall structure was formed. This structure, along with the electrostatic attraction effect, allowed for the sensitive colorimetric detection of Cr (VI), with a detection limit of 1.25 nM. The method also showed high selectivity and can be applied to real samples.

Summary: This study aimed to enhance the bioavailability of rosmarinic acid, a bioactive compound with high anticancer activity, by encapsulating it in tetrasulfide-based porous organosilica nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were small in size and had a high surface area and an average pore diameter. The nanoparticles showed effective accumulation in cancer cells without toxicity to normal cells. Treatment with rosmarinic acid-containing nanoparticles resulted in significant cell death in cancer cells. Overall, these findings suggest that the synthesized nanoparticles can enhance the pharmacological effects of rosmarinic acid.

Summary: Plasma protein binding plays a crucial role in the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of therapeutic bioactive materials. In this study, the interaction of nordentatin, a member of coumarins, with human alpha-1 acid glycoprotein (AGP) was investigated, and the anticancer potency of nordentatin against human colorectal cancer cells was evaluated. The results showed that nordentatin binds to AGP through a static quenching mechanism and exhibits inhibitory effects on the growth of HCT-116 cells by increasing intracellular ROS and [Ca2+] levels and triggering apoptosis-related gene overexpression. Therefore, nordentatin could be a promising plant-based therapy for colorectal cancer.
