Summary: In this study, we found that MT2A plays a crucial role in the progression of ESCC, affecting the migration and invasiveness of tumor cells in CAF-like cells and cancer cells. MT2A and IGFBP2 may serve as potential novel therapeutic targets in ESCC.

Summary: In this study, it was found that CAFs regulate tumor angiogenesis in oral squamous cell carcinoma by downregulating FENDRR, possibly through the PI3K/AKT pathway. The results indicate that the expression of FENDRR is downregulated in OSCC patients, and the lower expression of FENDRR in CAFs can influence gene expression and activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway.

Summary: The study found that Halofuginone can inhibit the migration and invasion of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) by targeting cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), and is involved in this process through inhibiting MMP2 secretion and the TGF-beta/Smad2/3 signaling pathway.

Summary: This study found that EBV-encoded circular RNA LMP2A (ebv-circLMP2A) is expressed in EBV-associated gastric carcinoma (EBVaGC) and is associated with distant metastasis and poor prognosis. The study further demonstrated that ebv-circLMP2A is involved in angiogenesis and is positively correlated with the expression of MVD, HIF1 alpha, and VEGFA. Knockdown and overexpression experiments showed that ebv-circLMP2A regulates tube formation and migration of HUVECs and affects the expression of VEGFA and HIF1 alpha in cancer cells under hypoxia. Additionally, there is a positive feedback loop between HIF1 alpha and ebv-circLMP2A that promotes angiogenesis under hypoxia.

Summary: This study found that CAFs in oral squamous cell carcinoma exhibit greater mitochondrial activity and preferentially use oxidative phosphorylation for glucose metabolism. TRAP1 was identified as an important regulatory molecule in CAFs, promoting OSCC progression by regulating OXPHOS.

Summary: SMARCA4 is highly upregulated in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues, promoting cell invasion and tumor growth. Mechanistic studies reveal that miR-199a-5p-regulated SMARCA4 promotes tumor cell invasion and metastasis through epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). These findings provide insights into the role of SMARCA4 in OSCC and have important implications for therapy.

Summary: The study identified a unique circRNA, circIGHG, which is significantly upregulated in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and associated with poor prognosis. It promotes OSCC invasion and metastasis by interacting with miR-142-5p and IGF2BP3, with epithelial-mesenchymal transition being the main mechanism. These findings suggest that circIGHG could serve as a biomarker and therapeutic target for early diagnosis and treatment of OSCC.

Summary: This review discusses the relationship between oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and venous thromboembolism (VTE). VTE has a significant impact on the mortality rate of cancer patients, and the thrombotic risk in OSCC patients has not been extensively studied, leading to insufficient prevention measures and affecting the effectiveness of oncologic treatment.

Summary: This study found that phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH) was highly expressed in esophageal squamous carcinoma (ESCC), and high expression was associated with poor prognosis. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that PHGDH knockdown inhibited ESCC progression by suppressing Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. These results indicate that PHGDH may be a potential therapeutic target for ESCC.
