Summary: This study evaluated the effect of DAC on DNA methylation and the immune system of pearl oysters. The results showed that DAC decreased global DNA methylation level and activated immune-related genes, leading to an improvement in humoral immunity. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the mechanism underlying DNA methylation in immune regulation.

Summary: In this study, a high-density consensus map was constructed using genotyping by sequencing, and a total of 108 QTLs related to growth and wood property traits were identified. Transcriptome analysis led to the screening of 1052 candidate genes, with qSG10Stable being the most stable QTL associated with lignin syringyl-to-guaiacyl ratio located on chromosome 10. The candidate genes identified included the TALE transcription factor family, which plays a crucial role in secondary growth and wood formation.

Summary: Rising temperatures in semi-arid environments hinder groundnut productivity and quality. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of heat stress tolerance will help address yield losses. QTL analysis identified three QTL clusters that harbor most of the major QTLs for heat tolerant traits, and several candidate genes with potential roles in seed development, plant architecture regulation, yield, plant growth and flowering time regulation, and photosynthesis were also identified. These findings provide a platform for further mapping, gene discovery, and marker development for genomics-assisted breeding of heat-tolerant groundnut varieties.

Summary: The complicated interactions between genetic background, environment, and lifestyle factors make it difficult to study the genetic basis of complex phenotypes in humans. Mouse studies offer the advantage of tight control over environmental and other factors. The Collaborative Cross (CC), a mouse genetic reference population, was used to assess behavioral measures associated with various traits. The study identified genetic variants underlying these traits and highlighted the potential of the CC population in behavioral genetic research.

Summary: In this study, the miRNA and mRNA transcriptomics of different developmental stages of the pearl oyster were analyzed using RNA sequencing. The researchers identified 329 miRNAs and 33,550 unigenes and found differentially expressed genes and miRNAs involved in larval development. Real-time PCR was used to validate the expression of some of these genes and miRNAs. This study provides valuable insights into the regulatory mechanisms of miRNA in invertebrate larval development.

Summary: This study identified 47 main-effect QTLs for productivity and oil quality traits in peanut using a recombinant inbred line population developed from an elite variety and its mutant. Common QTL regions on Ah02 and Ah16 were found to be associated with multiple traits, while epistatic QTL analysis revealed intra- and inter-chromosomal interactions for main-effect QTLs. Genes affected by transposition and functional SNPs were identified as potential candidates for gene cloning and genomics-assisted breeding in peanut.
