Summary: The use of patient-derived primary cell cultures in cancer preclinical assays has increased, but their translational value is limited by variability caused by culture conditions. High tyrosine concentrations in culture media may promote early phenotypic drift in melanoma cells, while propagation in low-tyrosine medium preserves phenotypic identity and plasticity.

Summary: Associating morphological features with ecological traits is crucial for understanding the relationship between organisms and their environmental roles. However, functional trait data without natural history information provide an incomplete understanding of an organism's ecological role. In this study, we found that body size, relative eye position, and scape length were informative for predicting diet/trophic position in ant communities, albeit with relatively weak predictive values.

Summary: In this study, a genome-wide association study was conducted on 213 Asian cotton accessions to identify SNPs and genes associated with leaf traits. Differences in leaf morphology and transcriptome between two varieties were analyzed, and two coding genes and two microRNAs were selected as candidate genes for leaf traits.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel learning-based model predictive control scheme that overcomes the challenge of manually designing terminal conditions and improves control performance. The scheme employs value iteration in reinforcement learning to autonomously design terminal cost while considering approximation errors. The paper provides theoretical analysis, including convergence, stability, and performance, and investigates the influence of prediction horizon and initial terminal cost on performance.

Summary: This paper proposes an Energy Management (EM) strategy for residential microgrid systems using Model Predictive Control (MPC)-based Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Shapley value. The strategy aims to optimize the benefits for all residential prosumers by reducing the collective economic cost and distributing the profits obtained through cooperation. Simulations on a three-household microgrid system validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Summary: This study found that high TMB is associated with improved OS and PFS in melanoma patients treated with mono-drug ICIs. However, standardization of TMB detection methods is needed to eliminate heterogeneity, and further randomized controlled trials are needed to determine the role of TMB in identifying melanoma patients who may benefit from ICIs.

Summary: Pythia is a literature identification system that combines query formulation and citation screening. Across seven systematic reviews, Pythia's sensitivity ranges from 0.09 to 0.58. The number of relevant abstracts reviewed per needed abstract number varies across the reviews. Overall, reviews with higher sensitivity retrieve more relevant citations in early batches, but other factors generally do not impact retrieval.

Summary: Differences in the provision of low-value care varied across measures, with commercial enrollees receiving slightly higher rates of low-value services than Medicaid enrollees. The difference was more pronounced for less expensive services, suggesting that financial incentives may not be the sole driver of low-value care.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the characteristics of pruritus induced by immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and evaluated the effectiveness of different therapeutic modalities. The results showed that pruritus per se occurred in 22.0% of ICI-induced pruritus patients, with the majority also presenting with additional cutaneous toxicity. Antihistamines and topical regimens were the first-line treatment, while narrow-band UVB, oral steroids, and GABA analogs were used as second-line interventions in resistant cases. The study confirmed the efficacy of current treatment strategies and suggested NBUVB as a potential steroid-sparing alternative.

Summary: Immune checkpoint blockers (ICBs) have been widely used for the treatment of melanoma, but they can also cause autoimmune toxicities, especially in the skin. The role of dermatologists is important in detecting and treating these adverse events. Common cutaneous toxicities include rash, psoriasis-like and lichenoid dermatoses, and bullous pemphigoid. Rare toxicities such as sarcoidosis, dermatomyositis, and subacute lupus have also been reported. This review provides a summary of ICB-induced cutaneous toxicities in melanoma patients and discusses management and treatment options.

Summary: This study suggests that alterations in lymphocyte subpopulations are associated with COVID-19 severity markers. Increased levels of CD16CD56 cells are associated with higher risk of lung injury. An increase in CD3CD4 and CD4RO cell count results in a decrease in CRP levels. However, further evaluation in larger scale trials is needed to validate these findings.

Summary: Treatment with CDK4/6 inhibitor in combination with endocrine therapies can improve progression-free survival in patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative, advanced breast cancer. Summary: This study aimed to quantify the types of health outcomes assessed in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in primary care settings over the past 20 years and identify potential gaps in specific types of health care and interventions. The results showed research gaps in preventive and palliative care, behavioral interventions, as well as safety and patient-centeredness outcomes as primary outcomes in primary care RCTs.
