Summary: The study reveals that Par14/Par17 interact with HBc and core particles through binding to the RP134-R-133 motif, enhancing the stability of HBc and core particles and playing a crucial role in HBV replication. These interactions are important for efficient replication of HBV.

Summary: This paper proposes a mechanical model and numerical method for structural membranes in a three-dimensional bulk domain using the isosurfaces of a level-set function. The proposed method combines the classical FEM and fictitious domain methods to achieve higher-order convergence rates and the ability to handle continuously embedded sub-structures in the bulk domain.

Summary: In this study, single-crystal KNbO3 films with tunable thickness were successfully fabricated by low-temperature hydrothermal epitaxy on Nb:SrTiO3 substrates. The films exhibited a single-domain structure with a disordered region near the interface, leading to a reduction in interface strain energy and electrostatic energy. This approach allowed for the growth of high-quality KNbO3 films without typical dislocations, resulting in improved photoresponsivity for optoelectronic applications.

Summary: Mutations in LRRK2 are commonly associated with Parkinson's disease. This study provides insights into the physiological and pathological roles of LRRK2, and establishes a structural template for future therapeutic interventions in PD. The high-resolution structures of full-length human LRRK2 and COR-mediated LRRK2 dimers reveal key elements for rationalizing disease-causing mutations and potential targets for inhibitors.

Summary: A new graphical method is proposed to evaluate the electromagnetic characteristics of layered structures, particularly focusing on natural complex frequencies and amplitudes. The method is validated by comparing results with those obtained through inverse Fourier transform, and has been proven effective in monitoring the impact of noise in measurement systems.

Summary: VbrK and VbrR are a histidine kinase and response regulator from Vibrio parahaemolyticus, constituting a two-component regulatory system that plays a role in regulating the survival or virulence of the bacterium. Through phosphomimetic technology, the mechanism of VbrR activation was revealed and structural studies provided insights into how VbrR recognizes and activates dsDNA.

Summary: In this study, in-situ synchrotron x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy were conducted to investigate the structural mechanism of BF-PT-0.19Ba(Zr,Ti)O3 high-temperature piezoceramic. It was found that an irreversible transition from tetragonal phase (T phase) to rhombohedral phase (R phase) occurred after poling, leading to significantly enhanced irreversible domain switching of both R and T phases. This study provides a new mechanism for designing high-performance high-temperature piezoelectric ceramics.

Summary: PARP4 is an ADP-ribosyltransferase that resides within the vault ribonucleoprotein organelle. This study provides insights into PARP4 structure and regulation, revealing that the catalytic domain of PARP4 has an open active site for NAD+ interaction. Crystal structures of the minimal ADP-ribosyltransferase fold of PARP4 illustrate active site alterations that restrict PARP4 to mono(ADP-ribose) modifications. PARP4 interacts with vault RNA primarily through the BRCT region, but this interaction does not stimulate mono(ADP-ribosylation) activity. The BRCT and WGR domains of PARP4 regulate its catalytic output.

Summary: The human mannose receptor expressed on macrophages and hepatic endothelial cells plays an important role in reducing tissue damage by scavenging released lysosomal enzymes, glycopeptide fragments of collagen, and pathogenic microorganisms. By binding to mannose, fucose, or N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) residues on these targets, the receptor interacts with sugars in a Ca2+-dependent manner through its C-type carbohydrate-recognition domain 4 (CRD4), which has been investigated through glycan array screening and multiple crystal structures. The interactions with monosaccharides and oligosaccharide substructures present in these ligands provide insight into the mechanisms of binding and potential classes of ligands for the mannose receptor.

Summary: This study investigates the oligomer structure of human CEACAM1 protein and reveals that homodimerization mediated by the GFCC' face enables flexible interactions with the ABED face. Structural modeling and NMR studies suggest that carbohydrate side-chain modifications do not hinder oligomerization. Furthermore, the presence of a conserved metal ion binding site on the G strand of the FG loop enhances oligomerization. These findings provide biophysical insights into the mechanisms of CEACAM1 oligomerization beyond dimerization.
