Summary: A facile, efficient, and chemoselective synthesis of allylic amides has been developed using allyl bromides activated by silver triflate. The Ritter-type reaction readily proceeds under mild conditions to give various allyl amides. This protocol is also applicable to different nucleophilic partners to yield a wide range of allyl-substituted products in the absence of a base.

Summary: Friedel's salt precipitation (FSP) method is an efficient technique for chloride removal, which has attracted significant attention in the zero liquid discharge of Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) wastewater. This paper provides a comprehensive understanding of the FSP method, including its evolution, reaction mechanisms, influential factors, and recent research progress. The FSP method utilizes lime and aluminate to remove chloride ions from saline wastewater through adsorption or/and ion exchange reactions, forming Friedel's salt. The effluent can be reused as makeup water, while the dechloridation precipitates can be reclaimed as adsorption materials and sludge conditioners, offsetting treatment costs and avoiding secondary pollution. The FSP method shows promising potential for achieving zero liquid discharge in FGD wastewater and other chloride-containing wastewater.

Summary: Desulfurization of natural oil feedstock is crucial for environmental protection and sustainable development. This study explores the methane-assisted catalytic desulfurization process, which shows distinctive characteristics in desulfurizing light oils. The process avoids converting methane into hydrogen and demonstrates unique advantages in preventing light end loss, oversaturation, and H2S formation.

Summary: CeO2/MIL-101(Fe) catalysts were designed by introducing different amounts of CeO2 into MIL-101(Fe), and the photocatalytic activity for removing DBT was found to be high under visible-light irradiation. Radical scavenger experiments confirmed that -OH and -O2- were main reactive species in the process, forming a synergistic effect.

Summary: Protein persulfides can be conserved by certain alkylating agents for subsequent mass spectrometry detection, while others rapidly convert into thioethers. N-ethylmaleimide and iodoacetamide are unsuitable for conserving persulfides, but monobromobimane and N-t-butyl-iodoacetamide are able to generate stable alkylated persulfides.

Summary: The study found that Mo/Ti-TUD-1 catalyst showed good oxidative desulfurization (ODS) performance for model oil under both mechanical stirring and ultrasound conditions, with ultrasound assistance significantly shortening the reaction time. The oxidative reactivity of sulfur compounds in the model oil followed the same order under mechanical stirring and ultrasound: 4,6-DMDBT > DBT > BT.

Summary: A facile one-pot synthesis was developed to produce a series of metal-substituted TUD-1 mesoporous (MTUD-1) supports, which were used for the catalytic oxidation desulfurization of light gas oil (LGO). The physicochemical properties of the supports and catalysts were characterized, and the cerium substituted TUD-1 supported catalyst showed the highest oxidation activity to sulfur compounds of LGO.

Summary: Here, a visible light-induced photocatalytic protocol is reported for the thiolation and pyridylation of styrenes using a thiolate-based EDA complex as a bifunctional reagent. The reaction takes place under mild conditions without the need for a photocatalyst, metal, or external redox agent, and exhibits a broad substrate scope. The protocol can be scaled up to gram-scale, and late-stage functionalization of natural product- and drug-derived complex molecules is also feasible.

Summary: In this study, a screening method for ionic liquids (ILs) was developed using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation function and COSMO-RS method for oil extraction desulfurization. One IL, 1-butyl-3-methylpyridinium dicyanamide ([BMPy][DCA]), was selected from 702 ILs to remove four sulfides from n-heptane. The separation mechanism was analyzed using the quantum chemistry method.

Summary: A visible-light-driven synthesis route without a photocatalyst has been developed for the rapid assembly of a wide range of 3-cyanoalkyl coumarins. This method shows advantages such as simplicity in synthesis, mild reaction conditions, and excellent substrate compatibility. The mechanistic studies revealed that phenolate anions generated in situ act as photosensitizers to drive the photoinduced transformation.

Summary: A new strategy using graphene to modify porous organic solid acid catalyst has been proposed, resulting in the successful preparation of a graphene-modified supported phosphotungstic acid catalyst. The graphene modification increases the adsorption capacity of 3-methylthiophene, enhances the selective adsorption, and shows higher alkylation desulfurization activity in the catalytic activity test. The catalyst also demonstrates good recycling performance after multiple recycles, indicating its broad application prospects in the field of alkylation desulfurization.
