Summary: Chinorlactone A (1), along with two SNTs schisdilactones V and W (2 and 3), were isolated from Schisandra chinensis. Extensive spectroscopic analyses and single-crystal X-ray diffraction confirmed their structures and absolute configurations. A hypothetical biosynthetic pathway for 1 was proposed.

Summary: In this study, a pair of enantiomeric isoprenylated flavonoids were isolated from Artocarpus heterophyllus, one of which exhibited a unique caged polycyclic structure. The structures of these compounds were determined through spectroscopic analysis, ECD calculations, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. One of the compounds showed significant inhibitory activity against LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 cells.

Summary: Extracts from plants of the Asteraceae family, such as dandelion, have been found to possess antioxidant and anti-platelet activity. However, little is known about the effects of extracts from other Asteraceae plants, such as chicory leaves, lettuce leaves, and Jerusalem artichoke roots, on the hemostatic system. The study found that dandelion root extract and fruit extracts have the strongest anti-platelet potential in whole blood, while red lettuce leaves and Jerusalem artichoke roots showed the strongest anti-platelet activity in washed blood platelets.

Summary: This study examined the phytochemical and pharmacological properties of corn galls and the fermentate of Ustilago maydis MZ496986. It identified six new chemical entities and 17 known components. Compounds 3, 5, and 9 showed potent inhibitory activities against nitric oxide production, and compound 9 also attenuated NF-KB activation. Ustilagol G exhibited potent antiplatelet aggregation. These findings suggest that corn galls and Ustilago maydis MZ496986 fermentate have potential as functional foods for improving inflammation-related discomforts and vascular obstruction.

Summary: The saliva from Anopheles mosquitoes inhibits the alternative pathway of complement, facilitating feeding by blocking the production of anaphylatoxins. Two proteins, albicin and SG7.AF, stabilize the C3bBb complex with different affinities for properdin. The SG7 family's functional role may differ in various mosquito species, as seen with albicin, SG7.AF, and Anophensin.

Summary: Cardiovascular diseases are a major cause of death globally, and their management often involves lifestyle changes and medication. However, current therapies have low patient compliance due to side effects, leading to the need for more acceptable treatment strategies. Medicinal and aromatic plants, particularly those from the Allium and Tulbaghia genera, have been used in traditional medicine for cardiovascular diseases. This review compiles information on their traditional uses and provides an update on in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies validating their effectiveness. The role of sulphur-containing compounds and their mechanisms of action are also discussed.

Summary: A novel donor-bridge-acceptor compound was synthesized with attractive emission properties in acetonitrile, displaying three different types of emission depending on solvent polarity. The excited-state processes in acetonitrile were analyzed using singular value decomposition with self-modeling treatment, revealing two distinct processes. The design of compounds with multiple excited states emitting over a wide range of the visible spectrum can be a powerful tool in creating new white-light-emitting materials.

Summary: The process of platelet aggregation is influenced by factors such as sex and age. A literature review and a local study found sex-related differences in platelet aggregation, with women showing higher aggregation responses to certain agonists and lower benefit from inhibitors. Age also affects the aggregatory responses to different triggers, and further studies are needed to understand the biological importance of these differences.

Summary: The aim of this paper is to provide the analysis result of the partial differential equations derived from the rigorous derivation of the degenerate parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel system from a moderately interacting stochastic particle system. The solution theory of the degenerate parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel problem and its non-local version is established, and the existence and well-posedness of the solution are derived through the introduction of a parabolic regularized system and perturbation method.

Summary: A new manganese(II)-peroxomolybdate complex, Cs-4[Mn(OH2)(2)(Mo7O22(O-2)(2))]center dot 4.25H(2)O (Cs-1), was synthesized by adding Cs+ salt to an aqueous solution containing manganese(II) sulfate, sodium heptamolybdate, and hydrogen peroxide. Cs-1 exhibits a unique structure with the coexistence of the oxidant-reductant pair O2(2-)/Mn2+. It serves as a key intermediate in the redox cycle of Mn(II) and Mn(IV) in the Mn-polyoxometalate-H2O2 system and shows notable activity as an enzyme mimetic catalyst in the oxidation process of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine and ortho-phenylenediamine by H2O2.

Summary: In this study, a cyanostilbene-based molecule was synthesized to achieve multiple photochemical reactions and functionalities in the same molecular system under one wavelength excitation. The molecule can undergo photoisomerization and photocyclization sequentially under continuous illumination at 365 nm in solution, leading to enhanced fluorescence intensity. This research provides a design idea for multifunctional molecules via photochemical reactions.

Summary: This study characterizes the biosynthetic logic of Piscibactins and photoxenobactins, metallophores and virulence factors. It shows that the biosynthesis involves heterocyclization domains with different catalytic efficiencies and putative bond cleavage off-loading manners. Spontaneous conversions of the biosynthetic end product also contribute to the production of other products.

Summary: Three unusual sesterterpenoids with novel rearranged colquhounane and tetranorcolquhounane frameworks were isolated from Colquhounia coccinea var. mollis, a medicinal plant from the Lamiaceae family. The structures of these compounds were determined through spectroscopic analysis and quantum chemical calculations. A biomimetic regioselective cyclopropane cleavage reaction was successfully achieved under acidic conditions. Additionally, the immunosuppressive activities of these new sesterterpenoids were evaluated.
