Summary: This study improves the accuracy of infrared thermography (IRT) in detecting voids underneath roadways by comparing and validating three advanced image-processing techniques. Among them, sparse principal component thermography (S-PCT) allows determining the physical size of voids with an accuracy above 95%. This research provides a foundation for advancing the use of IRT as a more accurate and cost-effective method for road condition monitoring.

Summary: A new method called minimalist module analysis (MMA) is proposed in this study to address the issue of redundant correlations between process variables in traditional multivariate statistical-based process monitoring (MSPM) methods. Simulation tests demonstrate that MMA achieves superior performance in fault detection and localization.

Summary: Through Condition-Based Maintenance strategy, a hybrid framework based on Moving Window Principal Component Analysis (MWPCA) and Bayesian Network (BN) was proposed for automated Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD) in machinery. The framework was able to detect and diagnose several simulated failures in a simplified model of a hydrogenerator.

Summary: Dimension reduction techniques like PCA, PLS, and CCA are extensively used in the analysis of high-dimensional omics data. Integrative analysis, which outperforms meta-analysis and individual-data analysis, has been developed for multiple datasets with compatible designs. We developed the R package iSFun to facilitate integrative dimension reduction analysis, offering comprehensive analysis options under different models and penalties.

Summary: This paper proposes a robust principal component decomposition model with joint spatial and temporal filtering and L1 norm regularization to effectively suppress the complex backgrounds in infrared target detection. The model achieved a better background suppression effect and higher detection rate compared to other algorithms under the same false alarm rate.

Summary: Maintenance strategies play a crucial role in improving engineering systems' performance and saving operational costs, with predicting asset maintenance needs and early fault detection being major challenges. Data-based multivariate statistical methods, particularly Principal Component Analysis, stand out for early fault detection. Decision analysis methods can assist in determining the best approach in different scenarios.

Summary: A novel robust kernel principal component analysis method with optimal mean (RKPCA-OM) is proposed to enhance the robustness of KPCA by automatically eliminating the optimal mean. The theoretical proof guarantees the convergence of the algorithm and the obtained optimal subspaces and means. Exhaustive experimental results validate the superiority of the proposed method.

Summary: Discrimination and detection of sulfur dioxide residues in foods have been achieved using a simple colorimetric array. The results demonstrate the good performance of the array in distinguishing sulfur dioxide and other interferents, as well as different concentrations of sulfur dioxide. The array has also been successfully applied to determine the concentration of sulfur dioxide residues in real samples, showing good accuracy, precision, and repeatability.

Summary: The use of hyperspectral imaging to detect mold on cheese and milk agar was explored in this study, showing that PCA loadings can be applied to new test samples to detect the presence of mold. The research highlights the potential of adopting these analysis methods in industry to detect mold on food products at an early stage.

Summary: Electronic tongues are sensors inspired by biological recognition systems, used to determine flavors or substances in samples. The sensor arrays are generally non-specific, requiring data processing techniques for specific information. Principal curves can be a promising technique for analyzing electronic tongues data.

Summary: A new model called Robust Principal Component Analysis via Hypergraph Regularization (HRPCA) is proposed in this paper. HRPCA utilizes L2,1-norm to reduce the effect of outliers and make data sufficiently row-sparse. The hypergraph regularization is introduced to consider the complex relationship among data. Important information hidden in the data are mined, and this method ensures the accuracy of the resulting data relationship information.
