Summary: Apoptosis is crucial for the normal growth, development, and immunity defense of living organisms. Viral infection triggers apoptosis in infected cells, but viruses have developed countermeasures to inhibit apoptosis in host cells. The study focuses on investigating the mechanism of how IAP2 induces apoptosis as well as the potential for creating resistant material through the knockout of BmNPV iap2.

Summary: This study identified daurisoline (DS) as a potential anticancer agent for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and repressing vasculogenic mimicry (VM) formation. DS was found to sensitize HCC cells to sorafenib and inhibit VM through inactivation of RhoA/ROCK2-mediated AKT and ERK-p38 MAPK signaling pathways.

Summary: Cognitive impairment is a major public health problem, and a high-fat diet has been linked to cognitive dysfunction and increased risk of dementia. However, there is currently no effective treatment available. Ferulic acid, a phenolic compound with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, shows promise in protecting against cognitive impairment caused by a high-fat diet. It improves cell survival, inhibits apoptosis, and reduces oxidative stress via the IRS1/PI3K/AKT/GSK3 beta signaling pathway. In addition, treatment with ferulic acid for 24 weeks improves learning and memory in high-fat diet-fed mice and decreases hyperlipidemia. These findings suggest that ferulic acid could be developed as a potential treatment for high-fat diet-induced cognitive impairment.

Summary: The spatial dimension of pores and interconnection within macroporous scaffolds plays a critical role in facilitating cell migration and bone tissue growth. This study evaluated biological performances of nonstoichiometric bioceramic scaffolds with varying pore dimensions in a femoral bone defect model, showing that scaffolds with larger pore sizes promote neotissue ingrowth and enhanced bone regeneration and remodeling. These findings provide important insights into how porous architecture influences bone regeneration in vivo and suggest potential implications for optimizing scaffold design using advanced additive manufacturing techniques.

Summary: Pore architecture in bioceramic scaffolds plays a crucial role in promoting vascularization efficiency. A study has developed an integrated design strategy to fabricate scaffolds with different pore architectures and dimensions. The gyroid-pore architecture showed accelerated ion dissolution and mass decay, leading to faster vascularization. In contrast, the hexagon-pore architecture exhibited lower vascularization efficiency, while the cube-pore architecture facilitated angiogenesis.
