Summary: A fabrication technique combining focused ion beam milling and inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching is used to produce lithium niobate nano-grating metasurfaces with steep sidewalls. The fabricated metasurfaces exhibit sharp quasi-bound states in the continuum and have good agreement with numerical simulations. This technique has potential applications in optical communications, on-chip photonics, laser physics, and sensing.

Summary: In this study, thermally evaporated aluminum was used as a hardmask to fabricate silicon microchannels using an ICP-RIE system in SF6/Ar gas mixture. The treated aluminum hardmasks demonstrated high resistance against the etching process, leading to successful fabrication of SiMCs with desired depths. SEM images showed uniform etching on the channel walls and bottom, indicating good etch uniformity for all samples.

Summary: The flexible process for fabricating thin Si-substrate chips used in millimeter-wave waveguide devices involves accurately defining the chip geometry through a deep Si-etch process, and ensuring thickness accuracy of the Si-substrate through backside lapping and dry etch processes. As examples, two thin Si-substrate millimeter wave chips with substrate thickness of 20 micrometers are presented.

Summary: This article investigates the effects of residual stress generated during the roll forming process on rectangular and square hollow steel sections. It finds that residual stress significantly impacts the product's service life and is related to the mechanical properties. By using numerical modeling and conducting a parametric study, the article explores the through-thickness residual stress distributions for different material grades and the effects of partial heating roll forming method.
