Summary: This study found that Isolinderalactone (ILL) can exert its anticancer effect in colorectal cancer (CRC) cells sensitive and resistant to oxaliplatin (Ox) by inducing ROS-mediated apoptosis through JNK/p38 MAPK signaling pathways. This provides a new insight into therapeutic strategies targeting drug-resistant CRC.

Summary: Glycidol is a food contaminant found in refined edible oils and various thermally processed foods, which induces cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and autophagy in HUVECs. The toxicity effects of glycidol are mediated through activation of the ERK/JNK/p38 signaling pathways, and these effects can be attenuated by apigenin-7 (API-C8) through inhibition of the same pathways.

Summary: T-2 toxin induces reproductive toxicity and germ cell damage. It reduces testicular germ cell number and downregulates their corresponding markers, but increases Sertoli cell markers and steroidogenic enzyme expression. T-2 toxin also decreases cell viability, increases apoptosis, and triggers ROS-mediated JNK/p38-MAPK signaling pathway, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptotic cell death in germ cells.

Summary: Beta-elemene regulates the balance of proinflammatory cytokines in mouse white adipose tissue through MAPK signaling, affecting the imbalance of M1-M2 macrophages and inhibiting the phosphorylation of MAPK pathways. These results suggest that beta-elemene may be a potential therapeutic medicine for macrophage-mediated chronic diseases.

Summary: This study isolated an active compound, IT24, from Iris tectorum and demonstrated its anti-inflammatory effects. IT24 exerts its anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting mPGES-1 and the p38/JNK pathway, and has potential as an mPGES-1 inhibitor for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases.

Summary: Research has shown that certain ginsenosides have therapeutic potential in downregulating p38 MAPK signaling, leading to their pharmacological benefits in various ailments. Studies on individual ginsenosides have focused on their specific molecular mechanisms of action, rather than the effects of whole-plant extracts.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the antitumor potential and molecular mechanism of Licochalcone B (LCB) in human colorectal cancer cells. The results demonstrate that LCB has a potential therapeutic effect against colorectal cancer cells through the ROS-mediated JNK/p38 MAPK signaling pathway, making it a promising anticancer therapeutic and prophylactic agent.

Summary: In this study, we found that NLRP3 inflammasome is significantly upregulated in restenosis and several restenosis-related DEGs are targets of mulberry extract. We demonstrated that mulberry extract suppresses the formation of ox-LDL-induced foam cells by upregulating cholesterol efflux genes ABCA1 and ABCG1, and dampens NLRP3 inflammasome activation through the MAPK signaling pathway. These findings reveal the therapeutic value of mulberry extract in neoatherosclerosis and restenosis treatment by regulating lipid metabolism and inflammatory response of foam cells.

Summary: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a potential therapeutic modality that has been recognized for its favorable mechanisms in various diseases, including sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). HBOT has neuroprotective effects through its anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic effects as well as increased tissue oxygenation capacity. However, there are caveats and limitations in applying HBOT in sepsis.
