Zeolite ZSM-5 with mesopority has been synthesized by using anion exchange resin which is very simple and low-cost as a hierarchical porous template. The obtained ZSM-5 with mesopority was characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), N-2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). These characterizations indicated the presence of hierarchical mesopores in this sample. SEM image showed the mesoporosity was mainly in the range of 20-30 nm, in agreement with the N-2 adsorption/desorption results. Catalytic tests showed that ZSM-5 with mesopority was more active than conventional zeolite ZSM-5 which is synthesized in the absence of anion exchange resin in catalytic cracking of 1,3,5-tri-isopropylbenzene.
