Summary: This study examines the relationship between the neighbourhood social environment (NSE) and the physical activity and screen time behaviours of preschool-aged children. The findings suggest that social interaction is associated with increased physical activity, decreased screen time, and improved likelihood of meeting physical activity and screen time guidelines. Higher neighbourhood crime is associated with a lower likelihood of meeting screen time guidelines. Social cohesion, sense of community, and social norms were not significant predictors of daily physical activity, screen time, or meeting guidelines. Future research should consider potential mediators of this relationship and guide community-based initiatives for children's behavioral, health, and social outcomes.

Summary: The characteristics of the neighbourhood environment, including built and natural environment, socio-economic status, and air pollution, have been found to be associated with cognitive health. This study aimed to examine the associations between these factors and cognitive function, and to explore the moderating effects of socio-economic status and air pollution.

Summary: This study aimed to identify dietary and physical activity patterns in children with overweight and obesity through cluster analysis. Three clusters were identified with varying levels of physical activity and adherence to dietary recommendations. The study found that cluster 3, with the highest physical activity level, had lower body fat percentage and higher lean body mass compared to cluster 2. Adherence to both physical activity and dietary guidelines is important in understanding obesogenic habits in pediatric populations.

Summary: This study is the first conducted in China that examines the relationships between objective neighbourhood environment, satisfaction with neighbourhood environment, and leisure-time physical activity among older adults. Results show that residents living in areas with higher walkability levels or those who are more satisfied with their neighbourhood environment spent significantly longer participating in leisure-time physical activity, while the objective accessibility of neighbourhood recreational resources was not a significant factor. Satisfaction with neighbourhood recreational resources was found to moderate the relationship between objective accessibility and physical activity.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the impact of different elements of the food environment on dietary intake and obesity. The findings suggest that interventions in the consumer food environment can significantly improve dietary quality of children and adults, while the effect on BMI is not significant. The number and distance of unhealthy food outlets in the neighborhood increase fast-food consumption and higher BMI for children, and impact selected adult populations. The availability and distance to healthy food outlets significantly improve children's dietary intake and BMI, but have no significant effect on adults.

Summary: Walking as a sustainable mode of transport allows for closer interactions with the environment, leading to increased life satisfaction and well-being. However, the importance of the bond between individuals and meaningful places has been overlooked in walking studies. This study examines the effects of the built environment and neighborhood attachment on satisfaction levels of walking trips and overall life satisfaction. The findings show that the impact of the built environment on walking satisfaction varies depending on the purpose of walking, and that neighborhood attachment has a significant positive effect on both walking satisfaction and life satisfaction. The qualitative analysis further explains how neighborhood attachment modifies individuals' perceptions of the walking environment and shapes their satisfaction through emotional connections and memories. This research contributes to the understanding of the relationship between the built environment, neighborhood attachment, and travel satisfaction.

Summary: This study found a link between neighbourhood built environment and adults' leisure-time physical activity in China. Better road conditions and higher perceived esthetic were associated with active leisure-time physical activity. Summary: This study fills a knowledge gap on how individuals organically use social media to encourage and sustain physical activity. The findings reveal that users naturally form peer-support networks on Twitter and display diversity in the topics discussed. The results suggest that geographical location is less important for providing peer support, and motivation is key. This presents a unique opportunity to identify successful motivation-providing peer support groups in a large user base.

Summary: This study aims to establish preferred and maximal walking speeds in young adults in Qatar and examine the factors influencing walking speed. The results showed that females had slower walking speeds, and obese individuals had lower walking speeds. Vigorous physical activity was positively correlated with walking speed. This is the first study to establish reference walking speed values for healthy young adults in Qatar.

Summary: This study discusses the appropriateness of admission criteria and prioritization of patients in residential treatment centers in South Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results show that some clinical conditions of low-risk patients worsened, requiring transfer to other hospitals. It is recommended to prioritize elderly or patients with underlying diseases and provide necessary equipment for self-isolation of young patients in similar large-scale outbreaks.

Summary: Health screening is a crucial component of health promotion programs worldwide, aiming to prevent and manage common chronic diseases at an early stage. The General Health Screening Program (GHSP) in Korea, which initially targeted workers in the 1950s, has expanded to include the entire adult population. The program focuses on diseases like cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases, along with other conditions such as anemia, liver disease, and mental health disorders. The National Health Information Database, which includes GHSP information, is extensively utilized for clinical and public health research. However, there is a need to evaluate screening items systematically, reduce disparities in participation, and integrate GHSP with actual health promotion activities.

Summary: This study evaluated fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) and factors related to FCR in Korean stomach cancer survivors. The results showed that FCR was associated with social, psychological, and health-related quality of life factors, rather than demographic, socioeconomic, or cancer-related factors. This suggests the importance of addressing FCR and providing comprehensive survivorship care for stomach cancer survivors.

Summary: This study analyzed factors affecting continuity of care in primary care settings for managing diabetes, including demographics, clinical workforce, and geographical relationships. It found that old age, mild disability, and distance from primary care clinic were significant factors associated with lower continuity of care. The geographical proximity of patients' residential areas and clinic locations showed the strongest correlation as a continuity factor.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics of ALS patients visiting the emergency department (ED). The results showed that 41.8% of patients arrived by ambulance and 27.7% spent more than 9 hours in the ED. After ED treatment, 57.4% were hospitalized, with 19.3% admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and 5.4% dying in the hospital. The primary reasons for ALS-related ED visits were dyspnea (35.2%), feeding tube problems (10.1%), fever (7.8%), and mental status changes (3.6%).

Summary: Respecting patients' preference for place of care is crucial in advance care planning for advanced cancer. This retrospective study in South Korea investigated adult cancer patients referred to a palliative care consultation team, recording their preference for place of care and demographic/clinical factors. Among the 891 patients referred, 23.6% preferred home discharge and only 53.8% of them were actually discharged home. Female patients had higher home discharge rates, while those with poor oral intake or dyspnea had lower rates. Additionally, 32.8% of patients discharged home had unintended hospital visits within 2 months. Individualized care planning considering relevant factors is necessary to meet patients' preferences for end-of-life care.
