Summary: This study assessed the toxicity of silver sulfide nanoparticles (Ag2S NPs) on earthworms and conducted biomarker tests on their immune effector cells. The results showed a slight weight loss in the earthworms but no mortality effects were observed. Although the Ag2S NPs did not significantly affect lipid peroxidation and phenoloxidase activity in the earthworm cells, an imbalance in nitric oxide generation was detected.

Summary: This study tested the effect of Cyamopsis tetragonoloba seed extract on the antioxidant activity of several known dietary flavonoids and non-flavonoid phenolics. The results showed that the seed extract could enhance the antioxidant activity of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) at lower concentrations, and significantly reduce oxidative stress in cell culture compared to individual phytochemical treatments. Analysis also revealed previously unreported metabolites that may explain the antioxidant-enhancing effect of the seed extract. The findings of this study are important for the development of effective nutraceutical/dietary supplements.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the protective role of vitamin E in improving cardiotoxicity induced by cyclophosphamide in rats. The results showed that vitamin E could attenuate the elevation of cardiac markers, increase in lipid profiles, reduction in antioxidant enzyme activities, and increase in lipid peroxidation. In addition, vitamin E was found to improve the histopathological alterations caused by cyclophosphamide.
