Summary: This study documented the prevalence and trajectories of symptoms experienced by ovarian cancer patients after first-line chemotherapy. The findings showed that abdominal symptoms were worst at chemotherapy end but improved over time. Neurotoxicity symptoms peaked at 1 month after treatment before improving. Long-term fatigue, trouble sleeping, sore hands and feet, pins and needles, and anxiety were common symptoms.

Summary: The study found that patient-reported outcomes of carcinoid syndrome patients showed that the main domains affecting daily life were traveling and food restriction. The most common symptoms were diarrhea, imperiousness, fatigue, abdominal pain, and flushing episodes. The PRO-CSS score was not correlated with clinical assessments, and patients with a low PRO-CSS score generally had a higher tumor burden.

Summary: Time-to-event endpoints for patient-reported outcomes, such as time to deterioration of symptoms or function, have unique considerations and challenges in cancer clinical trials. Analytical decisions using the estimand framework can help answer specific clinical questions, while the complexity and burdens associated with measuring time to deterioration make it problematic for widespread use. Instead, analyzing at pre-specified relevant time-points might be a better approach for trials focusing on comparative symptom or functional benefits.

Summary: The REiNS Collaboration recommends the use of generic and disease-specific PRO measures to assess multidimensional domains of QoL for NF clinical trials in children and adults. Further research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of these measures in both medical and psychosocial trials.

Summary: Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) offer a global perspective of a person's health status and are categorized into global, mental, physical, and social health domains. Challenges in using PROs in cardiac clinical trials include long-term measurement, inconsistency in outcome measures, and lack of measurement across multiple domains. Opportunities for advancement include utilizing consumer health informatics tools to measure PROs and quantifying minimal clinically important differences.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a core outcome set and measurements for implant dentistry clinical trials in order to improve evidence-based implant dentistry and quality of care. The study involved steps such as systematic reviews, patient focus groups, a Delphi project, and expert group discussions. The results identified 22 core outcomes in four domains, including pathophysiology, implant/prosthesis lifespan, life impact, and access to care. This study is of significant importance in improving implant dentistry and quality of care.

Summary: This study explored the feasibility and acceptability of an electronic patient-reported outcome (ePRO) follow-up pathway for ovarian cancer patients. The results showed that remote ePRO follow-up is feasible and acceptable to patients who are able and willing to participate. However, the low recruitment rate indicates that it may not be suitable for all patients.

Summary: To improve evidence-based implant dentistry and quality of care, this study aimed to develop a core outcome set and measurements for implant dentistry clinical trials. Through systematic reviews, patient focus groups, and expert discussions, 13 mandatory outcome domains were identified, including pathophysiology, implant/prosthesis lifespan, life impact, and access to care. These domains captured both the benefits and harms of therapy and will contribute to improving evidence-informed implant dentistry and quality of care.

Summary: This pilot study characterized the vaginal microbiome of postmenopausal women and identified types and frequency of intravaginal practices (IVPs). The study found that there were no associations between IVPs and the vaginal microbiome in postmenopausal women. Further research is needed to understand the reasoning behind women's use of IVPs and their perceived effects.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the predictive ability of mapping algorithms derived from cross-sectional and longitudinal data. By using data from a trial of patients with low-risk prostate cancer, researchers found that models obtained from baseline cross-sectional data showed the best predictive performance. Models using only EPIC domain/subdomain data had better predictive ability when combined data was used, while models using baseline data outperformed others when patient covariates were considered.
