Summary: The study aimed to evaluate consumers' perception of self-service foods' nutrition labels through a qualitative and quantitative assessment. Four food labeling formats, including traditional, simplified, traffic-light, and warning, were proposed and evaluated with three types of sandwiches. The findings showed that the traffic-light format was the most preferred by the respondents, but all four models were well understood and accepted. The presence of health warnings in the traffic-light and warning nutrition labeling models led to a decrease in the choice of certain sandwiches. Most respondents agreed that additional information, such as ingredients and calories per serving, should be included on food labels. The study highlighted the importance of legislation regulating food labeling and suggested that providing more information on products can improve consumers' choices.

Summary: Little is known about the clinical features of food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) in patients with Down syndrome (DS). This study found that FPIES in DS patients is associated with greater severity and earlier onset of symptoms. Cow's milk formula and wheat were the main causative foods. The surgical history of colostomy and postoperative nutrition may contribute to the onset of FPIES. Therefore, the use of amino acid-based formula should be considered for DS children undergoing gastrointestinal surgeries, and FPIES should be considered when acute gastrointestinal disease is suspected in DS children.

Summary: The study found that children with egg allergy who had good quality of life and no comorbid asthma or atopic dermatitis were more likely to have a favorable outcome 1 year after oral food challenge. This suggests that interventions focusing on improving quality of life may promote the resolution of food allergies.

Summary: Food hypersensitivity, a topic receiving significant attention, has led individuals with FH to undertake various efforts in managing their condition. These efforts may involve a significant workload, with some individuals needing to identify trigger foods and implement dietary changes. Efforts made to conceal FH are also part of this workload, but clarifying trigger foods has the potential to reduce the burden of treatment.

Summary: Research has found that specific neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 can be produced in the colostrum of immunized cows, and these antibodies can effectively block the interaction between the virus and cells when administered through a nasal spray. This finding is significant for epidemic prevention and control, serving as an additional measure alongside vaccination and mask-wearing.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of food hypersensitivity in young children in the Lviv region of Ukraine and estimate the factors associated with it. The most common allergens in young children were found to be cow's milk, egg, and wheat. Regional differences were also observed, with fish and honey hypersensitivity being more prevalent in the Carpathians and soy hypersensitivity being more common among Lviv City residents.

Summary: The production and use of kiwifruit has been rapidly growing in the food industry, but it has also emerged as a common elicitor of food allergy worldwide. Further research is needed to understand the allergenicity and to address the need for labeling and public education.

Summary: PFI is associated with female sex and gastrointestinal and extraintestinal complaints. Limited high-quality evidence supports the role of psychological factors associated with PFI. Some studies suggest an association between PFI and increased levels of common mental disorders and distress.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical features, triggers and management of anaphylaxis in Latin America. The results showed that drug-induced anaphylaxis was the most common, followed by food-induced and venom-induced anaphylaxis. Children and adolescents were more likely to experience food-induced and insect sting-induced anaphylaxis. Less than half of the patients were prescribed epinephrine after emergency treatment. The importance of this study lies in providing updated data on anaphylaxis in Latin America and emphasizing the urgent need to disseminate and implement anaphylaxis guidelines.

Summary: This study presents an approach to identify live IgE(+) plasmablasts in peripheral blood, and demonstrates that allergic individuals have a higher percentage of IgE(+) plasmablasts and increased IgE secretion during clinical allergy. The severity of allergy and IgE secretion are positively correlated with the frequency of IgE(+) plasmablasts in peripheral blood.

Summary: This study conducted the first nationwide epidemiological survey on anaphylaxis in Japan. The results showed that children were the main population affected by anaphylaxis, with food and drugs being the most common triggers. Intramuscular injection of adrenaline was commonly used for treatment. The findings highlight the importance of comprehensive education and training on anaphylaxis.

Summary: The study evaluated the performance of serological diagnostic tests for SARS-CoV-2, finding that ELISA IgG showed high agreement in pregnant women and cord blood samples, while IgM/A had lower agreement. The ELISA test had high sensitivity of 96% but low specificity of 22%, with a negative predictive value of 87% and a positive predictive value of 51%.
