Summary: Plasmonic nanostructures, particularly irregular surfaces of silver nanorings, have shown promise in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy. Through the fabrication and characterization of clusters-based Ag nanorings, it was found that they could achieve SERS enhancement factors as high as 2.1 x 10^4. By simulating EM near-field distributions and investigating the irregular shapes and arrangements of clusters within the nanorings, a deeper understanding of the underlying EM mechanism in SERS enhancements was gained.

Summary: EC-SOERS is a new phenomenon that enhances the Raman signal during the oxidation of a metal surface. Studies show that carbonyl and carboxyl groups are necessary to observe this phenomenon, with a delocated charge being important factor. Evaluating the enhancement factors for different molecules with highly delocated charge and a carboxyl group sheds more light on the interaction of molecules with the electrochemically generated SOERS substrates.

Summary: Electrochemistry can be used to generate SERS substrates, utilizing the plasmonic properties of nanos-tructures and the chemical mechanism, with time-resolved Raman spectroelectrochemistry providing valuable information. Comparing Au and Ag metals for folic acid detection in drugs, it was found that Ag SERS substrates outperformed Au SERS substrates in complex samples.

Summary: This article introduces a method to enhance surface Raman scattering by utilizing the local surface plasmon resonance phenomena. By depositing silver on the surface of zinc oxide thin films with different pH values, the Raman scattering signal is significantly improved, and the optimal acid-base environment is identified.

Summary: This paper reports a method for synthesizing gold Janus nanostars (NSs) that have a smooth pentagonal morphology with sharp tips and edges on one side and a crumbled morphology on the other. The synthesis method is different from other Janus nanoparticle preparation methods and does not involve template-assisted growth or masking techniques. The optical properties and size-dependent surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activity of the Janus NSs were investigated.

Summary: The study introduced the use of silver nanowires as endoscopic probes for detecting intracellular Raman signals and proposed an advanced strategy to significantly enhance their performance. By uniformly forming gold structures on the smooth AgNW surface, high surface-enhanced Raman scattering efficiency was achieved, demonstrating applicability for molecular sensing in cells.

Summary: The fabrication of silicon nanowires by metal-assisted chemical etching and deposition of silver nanoparticles by the electroless method can be used for SERS detection of organic pollutants. Study shows that increasing the length of SiNWs decreases the enhancement of SERS, and SERS has potential in discriminating mixed dyes.

Summary: In this study, the use of copper underpotential deposition (UPD) was demonstrated to measure the electrochemically active surface area of a protein-modified gold electrode. The adsorption behavior of beta-casein was found to be influenced by the surface roughness, microstructure of the gold electrode, and the concentration of the protein solution.

Summary: In this study, three-dimensional Ag aerogel-supported Hg single-atom catalysts were used as an efficient SERS substrate for monitoring enhanced oxidase-like reactions. The effect of Hg2+ concentrations on the SERS properties of 3D Hg/Ag aerogel networks was investigated, and an optimized addition of Hg2+ resulted in specific enhancement. The formation of Ag-supported Hg SACs was confirmed using HAADF-STEM imaging and XPS measurement, and the oxidase-like catalytic mechanism of Hg/Ag SACs was revealed using DFT. This research provides a mild synthetic strategy for fabricating Ag aerogel-supported Hg single atoms with promising prospects in various catalytic fields.

Summary: Nanoporous gold (NPG) with less than 1% residual Ag content was studied as an electrocatalyst for the oxidation of methanol, formaldehyde, and formate. The surface structure and oxidation reaction of NPG can be controlled by adjusting the Ag content and potential. Ag has a significant impact on the onset potential and peak current density of the catalytic reaction.
