The conversion of CO2 to valuable compounds, which is considered as an effective approach to solve the global warming, represents a great challenge due to the high stability and low reactivity of CO2. Herein, thermodynamic calculations predicted the feasibility of exothermic reactions between CO2 and Li3N into two important solid materials carbon nitride and lithium cyanamide. Furthermore, the feasibility was confirmed by experiments, namely, the fast reaction between CO2 and Li3N produced crystal lithium cyanamide and amorphous carbon nitrides. This provides a novel process to control CO2 emissions.
