Summary: This study evaluated the silt erosion of the Pump as Turbine (PAT) and established an empirical correlation for the assessment of normalized wear of the SS304 material impeller. The analysis revealed that silt concentration was a more significant parameter in causing erosion, while silt size was related to different types of erosive failures.

Summary: This study compared the surface change on natural and polished enamel exposed to a joint mechanical and chemical wear regimen. The results showed that natural enamel, when exposed to erosion alone, displayed less wear and minimal subsurface alterations. However, with added abrasion, natural enamel surfaces saw increased wear and notable subsurface changes compared to polished ones.

Summary: The effect of silicon carbide (SiC) hybridization on enhancing the potential of polymer composites is studied. Tribological characteristics (sliding wear and erosive wear) of SiC filler and SiC-filled glass fiber-reinforced hybrid composites were investigated. The study found that 30% of each constituent, SiC filler and SiC/woven glass fiber, provide the optimum tribological properties. Micro-crack propagation and formation of micro-craters and grooves were observed during sliding wear and erosion fragmentation processes, respectively.

Summary: This study focuses on developing micro and nanocomposites of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) by incorporating carbide particles of titanium, silicon, tungsten, and zirconium, and evaluating their performance. The research finds that nanoscale carbide particles can enhance the wear resistance of UHMWPE, and nanocomposites outperform microcomposites in most properties.

Summary: The combined effect of cooling rate and microalloying on Cu-Zr alloy has been studied. A higher cooling rate promotes the formation of B2 CuZr austenite, while the addition of 0.5 at. % Fe promotes the formation of B19' martensite, resulting in improved wear resistance for 2 mm samples. For 4 mm samples, a lower cooling rate leads to the formation of multiphase intermetallic, and microalloying with 0.5 at. % Fe results in a relatively large volume fraction of B33 CuZr martensite, leading to reduced wear resistance.

Summary: The study found that different types of manual toothbrushes and brushing loads have an impact on the progression of erosive tooth wear (ETW) on enamel. The force of brushing can modulate the ETW of enamel, and certain toothbrushes may be more effective in minimizing enamel loss depending on the brushing load applied. Overall, toothbrush characteristics were not significantly correlated with enamel surface loss in ETW.

Summary: This paper investigated the influence of specific independent wear variables on slurry erosive wear using AISI 430 stainless steel propeller. The results showed that various factors have different effects on weight loss and temperature rise, with the wear mechanisms being mainly crack propagation in SiO2 slurry and extreme micro fatigue in SiC slurry.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of different weight percentages of nanoclay on the wear properties of basalt fiber reinforced polymer composites. The results showed that the addition of nanoclay effectively improved the adhesive and erosive wear properties of the composites, while deteriorating the abrasive wear properties. The wear rate exhibited improvement with increasing nanoclay content, but was dependent on the wear environment conditions.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the influence of different ultra-soft toothbrushes on the progression of erosive tooth wear (ETW). The results showed that flexible handle toothbrushes had a greater effect on enamel erosion, while round-end bristles (ultra-soft and soft) had a greater impact on dentin erosion.

Summary: The research found that the quenched specimens have better erosive wear resistance, but the tempering process slightly reduces their performance. This indicates that excessive Cr addition has a negative impact on erosive wear resistance in heat-treated conditions.

Summary: The tribological performance of two polymeric friction modifiers, one based on an ester-based compound and another based on an ethoxylated fatty ester and an organic friction modifier, oleamide, was studied. The results showed that the polymeric friction modifier exhibited lower friction and wear than the oleamide at all the studied temperatures, and it reduced boundary friction more effectively at higher temperature.

Summary: The study investigated the effectiveness of intraoral scanners (IOS) in monitoring tissue loss and found that IOS could detect the progression of tissue loss accurately. The values obtained by IOS were consistent with those obtained by noncontacting profilometry, indicating that IOS is a promising tool for monitoring erosive tooth wear.

Summary: This study reports the processing and characterization of graphene-reinforced aluminium alloy 7075 microcomposites and nanocomposites. The nanocomposites have higher density compared to the microcomposites, and their hardness increases proportionally with the addition of graphene. The wear mechanisms of the composites differ, with microcomposites showing abrasive and ploughing wear, while nanocomposites exhibit adhesive wear with delamination and particle pull-out from the material surface.
