Summary: An Ar-H-2 arc plasma jet under atmospheric pressure was used to remove tin (Sn) contamination on the multi-thin film surface of the Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) mirror. By converting Sn into SnH4, a gaseous compound that can be easily exhausted, the contamination was effectively removed. The discharge conditions, such as the content of H-2 in the mixture gas, applied power, and treatment time, were varied to investigate the plasma characteristics and the degree of Sn removal. The optimal case was found to be treating for at least 1 min under an applied power of 500 W using 5% of H-2 mixed content.

Summary: This study investigated the co-deposition of thin polymeric films loaded with zinc oxide nanoparticles using atmospheric pressure plasma jet technology. The crystalline ZnO nanoparticles were produced by wet chemistry and injected into the plasma with an aerosol buffer. The polymeric encapsulation of ZnO led to the recovery of UV excitonic emission and a remarkable increase in luminescence yield.

Summary: The RF-ICP source can effectively strip amorphous carbon coatings in an H-2/Ar atmosphere, with atmosphere composition strongly affecting the stripping rate and selectivity. Chemical sputtering plays a key role in the carbon stripping process, with a higher rate necessary for achieving high selectivity in coating stripping.

Summary: The effect of hydrogen on the deposition of SnS films was investigated, revealing that the structure, composition, and carrier concentration of the films can be controlled by varying the supply of H-2 gas. It was also found that hydrogen does not act as a carrier, but rather modifies the film's composition using RF magnetron sputtering.

Summary: In this study, an open-air atmospheric pressure plasma was used to deposit ultrahydrophobic bilayer coatings by successive deposition of HMDSO and pFOTES precursors. The coated surfaces were characterized using various analytical techniques, and the results confirmed the ultrahydrophobic property of the bilayer coatings. This study is important as it demonstrates a novel approach for the preparation of composite coatings with high added value.

Summary: This study investigated the reactive ion etching of PbSe thin films on silicon in a CH4/H-2/Ar plasma atmosphere. Various etching parameters were systematically studied and it was found that the self-bias, etching rate, and surface smoothness are affected by factors such as rf power, gas ratio, and process pressure. The study also demonstrated the impact of CH4 percentage on the etching rate and surface quality.

Summary: This study investigates the dependency of H-2 production and frequency gaps in Ar-moisture dielectric barrier discharge non-thermal plasma on working frequency, applied electric fields, discharge gas-gap, and central electrode materials. The results show that the use of high frequency leads to various frequency gaps within a certain range, and these gaps are influenced by the discharge gas-gap and central electrode materials used in the reactors.

Summary: The oxidation of neat NH3 and co-oxidation of NH3 with H2/CO/CH4 were investigated experimentally and numerically. Results showed that H2 can promote NH3 reactivity below 950 K, while CO/CH4 can promote it below 1175 K. HO2 radical was found to be an important intermediate for NH3 oxidation. As temperature increased, the oxidation of NH3 was dominated by independent interactions between fuels and H/OH/O radicals. In stoichiometric conditions, NO formation mainly depended on NH radicals, while in lean conditions, it depended on the conversion of NH2 to NO through HNO intermediate.

Summary: Thin hydrogel layers were deposited on conducting surfaces using an electrochemically induced free-radical polymerization method, with ionized carboxylic groups allowing for accumulation of Cu(II) cations. The presence of Cu(II) acted as an electroactive cross-linker, causing substantial shrinking of the layer, while electrochemical reduction to Cu(I) led to substantial swelling. Subsequent electrooxidation of Cu(I) reformed the crosslinking complexes, resulting in the observed shrinking of the layer. The electrochemically active hydrogel layer acted as a microactuator due to its fast action, high stability, and reversible shrinking/swelling transformation, monitored by electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance and electron microscopy.
