Summary: Salvianolic acids have a special synergic effect with panax notoginsenosides in treating acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and have been developed into a new drug named Danqi Tongmai Tablet (DQTT). The network pharmacology-based analysis suggested that the therapeutic effects of DQTT on AMI might be related to the arachidonic acid pathway. DQTT treatment in AMI resulted in restoration of arachidonic acid metabolome with elevated anti-inflammatory metabolites and decreased pro-inflammatory lipids, alongside the down-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Summary: Corni Fructus (CF) is a widely used traditional medicine and food, but its chemical profile and the impact of storage periods on indicative components have not been systematically studied. In this study, UHPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap-MS was used to investigate the fragmentation behaviors of multiple compounds from CF and the content variety of its indicative components for different storage periods. A total of 130 components, including 47 potentially new compounds, were identified. The storage period studies indicated that the contents of 19 indicative components in CF changed differently with the prolongation of the storage period.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the variation in the composition of methanol-soluble metabolites in the leaves of three Digitalis species. Through untargeted profiling, 115 compounds were identified, with 16 compounds being quantified. The composition of the metabolites showed differences between the species, with D. grandiflora having unique compounds. However, there was limited variation in the content of the metabolites within species, indicating conservation across populations. This metabolomics approach can be valuable for understanding the relationships among Digitalis taxa.

Summary: This study investigated the hypotensive effect of Uncaria rhynchophylla (UR) extract and its regulatory role in metabolic pathways. The results showed that UR extract could effectively lower blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) for 8 weeks. Non-targeted and targeted metabolomics analyses revealed the reorganization of metabolic pathways and the restoration of cardiovascular active compounds' functions after UR administration. The inhibition of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) enzyme activity and up-regulation of vasodilators epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) were identified as contributors to the anti-hypertension effect of UR.
