Summary: This study investigates the relationship between Entermorpha linza polysaccharide (EP) and Bacillus subtilis, which plays a role in nitrate transformation. The experiment shows that Bacillus subtilis can utilize EP as a carbon source, leading to a significant increase in bacterial density. The secretion of polysaccharide-degrading enzymes and transcriptome analysis support this finding. Additionally, EP improves the growth environment, maintains bacterial integrity, and increases the activity of key enzymes.

Summary: In this study, EPS polysaccharides were extracted from Enteromorpha prolifera and cationic modification was performed to obtain CAEPS hydrogel. The structural characteristics of EPS and CAEPS-based hydrogel were analyzed, showing that CAEPS hydrogels have higher porosity, apparent density, and hydrophilicity compared to EPS hydrogels. The adsorption mechanism of the hydrogels on three typical pollutants in water was studied, with the results indicating that the adsorption isotherms of both hydrogels followed the Langmuir model and the adsorption capacity of CAEPS hydrogels was higher than that of EPS hydrogels.

Summary: Coconut peel polysaccharide (CPP) was extracted from coconut peel using boiling water extraction. The molecular weight and monosaccharide component of CPP were analyzed, and its antioxidant activity and anti HepG2 proliferation activity were evaluated. The results showed that CPP had a molecular weight of 1.20 x 10(5) Da and consisted mainly of arabinose (Ara), galactose (Gal), glucose (Glu), xylose (Xyl), and galacturonic acid (Gal-A). CPP exhibited scavenging effects on ABTS, DPPH, and O-2(-•) radicals, and showed significant anti-proliferation activity against HepG2 cells.

Summary: In this study, chestnut polysaccharide (CP) was extracted and purified, and its antioxidant activity was improved. The purified CP showed increased branching structure, rod, and spherical structure, and reduced lamellar structure. Selenized chestnut polysaccharide (CP-Se) was prepared using nano-selenium method, and its scavenging abilities for radicals were significantly higher than those of CP. These findings provide insight into the effects of purification and selenization on the antioxidant activity of chestnut polysaccharide.

Summary: Crosslinking affects the mechanical behavior and tissue metabolism of collagen-based tissues. Aging and diabetes alter the crosslinking type and density, thus changing tissue properties. High-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking and advanced-glycation end-products result in uniform deformation under daily activity, while low-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking does not. High-connectivity model displays more sliding, while AGEs induce instability in structures near the binding sites.

Summary: The potential of multi-layer nanoemulsions for improving the cellular uptake, antioxidant activity, and in vitro bioaccessibility of alpha-tocopherol was examined. The results showed that the multi-layer nanoemulsions significantly enhanced the cellular uptake and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol compared to free coumarin 6. Furthermore, the use of chitosan and dextran sulfate as wall materials in the multi-layer nanoemulsions led to even higher cellular uptake, in vitro bioaccessibility, and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol.
