Summary: Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris YRC3780 isolated from kefir has anti-allergic effects in humans. The oral administration of L. cremoris YRC3780 enhanced IFN-gamma and IL-12 production, inhibited IL-4 production, and attenuated symptoms in an atopic dermatitis mouse model by regulating cytokine expression.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of a probiotic intervention using Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris LL95 in ameliorating mood disorders in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depression-like mouse model. The results showed that LL95 intervention improved LPS-induced depression-like behaviors in mice and modulated oxidative and inflammatory markers in the hippocampus, as well as altered the LAB content of the gut microbiota.

Summary: Exopolysaccharides (EPSs) from Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis IMAU11823 were found to have strong reducing power and no cytotoxicity. The EPSs had different sugar compositions and molecular weights, with EPS-1 being a linear structure composed of glucose and mannose, and EPS-2 being a more complex, non-linear structure composed of mannose, glucose, and rhamnose. Furthermore, a biosynthesis model for EPS production in the IMAU11823 strain was proposed. This study broadens the understanding of the formation, structure, and function of complex EPSs produced by Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis IMAU11823.

Summary: This study constructed a sodium alginate hydrogel-based delivery system loaded with lutein nanoparticles for the treatment of colitis. The results showed that the lutein hydrogel effectively alleviated colitis symptoms by reducing colon tissue damage, inflammatory factor levels, and adjusting fecal heme content. The hydrogel also improved the integrity of the intestinal barrier, inhibited the NF-KB pathway, and modulated the expression and secretion of inflammatory factors. Additionally, it positively influenced the intestinal microbial environment. The sodium alginate-based hydrogel shows promising prospects as a slow-release carrier for lutein nanoparticles.

Summary: The activation of the inflammasome plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have been shown to alleviate SLE by suppressing inflammasome activation. This study found that the NLRP3 inflammasome was activated in macrophages from SLE patients and mice, and its activation correlated with disease activity. After MSC transplantation, the severity of SLE was reduced, and NLRP3 inflammasome activation was inhibited. These findings suggest that MSC suppress inflammasome activation and provide a potential therapeutic target for SLE.
