Facile solvothermal synthesis of Zn2SnO4 nanoparticles as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Zn2SnO4 nanopartides have been prepared by a facile solvothermal process using NaHCO3 as a mineralizer. The Zn2SnO4 nanoparticles with a mean size of 50 nm were obtained after solvothermal treatment at 200 degrees C for 18 h. SnO2 nano-needles started to appear when the reaction time was extended to 24 h. As anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, the Zn2SnO4 nanoparticles exhibited initial capacities of 1322 and 784 mA h g(-1) at the current density of 100 and 300 mA g(-1), respectively. The as-prepared Zn2SnO4 nanoparticles showed quite good rate capability. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All tights reserved.
