In the present study we investigate the issue of fabricating scalable rare earth doped SrSe microcrystals at low temperature and its photoluminescence properties. Present work demonstrate that SrSe can be fabricated at relatively low temperature (similar to 220 degrees C) with microscale morphology without compromising the luminescence properties. Probably this is due to the significant decrease in the anionic vacancies as evident from the luminescent data (recorded at room temperature) presented when doped with Eu2+ (blue emission with excitation at 254 nm) and Eu3+ (red emission at 395 nm excitation). Moreover, SEM study reveals that fabricated SrSe are in the micro-range with microrods (Eu3+) and microspindles (for Eu2+) like morphology. Furthermore, the XRD pattern of SrSe is in close agreement with JCPDS card number 750260. The scalable synthesis of doped SrSe microcrystals at low temperature can trigger the interest for its applications in optical sensor devices and solid state lighting technology.
