In this work, sulfur-doped graphite nanoplatelets were fabricated through the use of a wet ball milling process with expanded graphite, sulfur and organic solvent. The highest oxygen reduction activity was achieved by using expanded graphite due to the effective incorporation of sulfur atoms into the graphene networks. The sulfur-doped electrocatalyst fabricated in this study exhibits better long-term durability and CO tolerance than commercial Pt/C catalyst due to the robust graphitic structure and metal-free nature.
