海报摘要

Sugarcane bagasse (SCB) continue receiving attention as feedstock for producing bio-oil, particularly by fast pyrolysis. However, its relatively high inorganic content affects bio-oil yield and quality. The present study reports the effect of pretreatment with aqueous solution of citric acid (CA) on pyrolytic bio-oil yield and its characteristics. The SCB samples exhibited a reduction in ash after leaching. The pyrolysis trials at 500 °C were conducted in a continuously operated fast pyrolysis mini-plant based on auger reactor technology. As a result the yield of organics obtained from CA–leached SCB was 5 wt.% higher than that from raw SCB (38.9 wt.% on pretreatment-feedstock basis). The values of water content of raw and CA–leached SCB bio-oils were close. Hence, CA can be considered as a technically viable option as an effective leaching agent to demineralize biomasses prior to thermochemical conversion processes like fast pyrolysis.
