I live in Nebraska and this weekend; I noticed a lot more individuals wearing masks. I have a few friends who work in healthcare who have some worry about the new variant.

评论了 Facebook and TikTok Addiction in Trindiad and Tobago: Prevalence and Predictors
Great poster! I think that assessing individuals' usage and group usage of social media platforms such as Facebook and TikTok are necessary to gain a broader understanding of overall use. For example, years ago I was on Facebook, but I haven't been for at least 8 to 10 years now. During the time I was on Facebook, my usage had peaks and valleys; depending on what was going on in my world had some influence in my usage. In relation to motivation of usage, in one of my recent college lectures' we talked about social media as a means to integrate with others socially and present oneself in a positive light. With that said, I had a few students share that they are seeing an influx of people/users of social media platforms share the not so positive information as well. I'd be curious to know if self-presentation on social media platforms is changing to a more transparent view of one's life and what characteristics influence this. Thoughts?

评论了 Preventing Hip Fractures
Fall prevention requires an awareness of the person's fall risk as well as assistive devices and social support in place. Last year, my stepfather's dementia became so bad that he had to go into a nursing home. During his short time there, he fell out of his bed and fractured his hip. Our family was upset and devastated. Long story short, his broken/fractured hip sped up his decline.

评论了 Industrial Organizational (I/O) Psychology: The Study of Workplace Behavior
I recently read an interesting article about an individual who uses a coffee cup as part of his interview process. In a nutshell, the interviewer walks a candidate to the kitchen to offer them a drink; water, coffee, a cup of tea, or a soft drink, and then he moves on with his interview questions. At the end of the interview, if the candidate doesn't offer to take their cup back to the kitchen, he shares that the candidate will not likely advance to another round and/or be hired. Here's a link to the article. https://www.businessinsider.com/job-interviews-boss-coffee-cup-test-mind-games-2023-9 I'm curious what your thoughts are? Most are saying it's manipulative.

评论了 Text Recycling
Interesting topic! As soon as I saw this concept, I thought of self-plagiarism. But, after reading up on text recycling I now know that it's not self-plagiarism. Knowing what I now know about text recycling, I can see how it would be useful to expand on research. Additionally, I learned about the different types of text recycling which include developmental recycling, generative recycling, adaptive publication, and duplicate publication. https://textrecycling.org/files/2021/06/Understanding-Text-Recycling_A-Guide-for-Editors-V.1.pdf

评论了 Diagnosis and Treatment of Psychosis in Autism Spectrum Disorder
Interesting webinar! I worked in mental health for about 8 years and many of the clients I worked with were diagnosed with a mental health issue/disorder and/or dually diagnosed (i.e., both drugs/alcohol and mental health issue). Schizophrenia was one of the mental disorders that I worked with, and it was difficult to treat. Some didn't respond well to the medications, and some did. I agree that educating individuals about a lifestyle change is important. I further agree that understanding the nature of the motivation to embrace a lifestyle change and ask specific questions.

评论了 ChatGPT and the AI Essay: Who Will Write the Ending?
AI is an important and valuable tool. In terms of education, it's important that AI not replace the overall learning experience and writing itself. AI can improve writing which makes it a great tool for students and others. However, it's important to not rely solely on AI for writing.

I enjoyed this webinar! Extreme weather events have and continue to impact human health and our planet. In order to better protect patients and the planet, there needs to be more education about the possibility of immediate health risks of extreme weather events and how patients/individuals can better protect themselves and stay safe during such times. Helping people be proactive is in their best interest.

评论了 Controversies in Dementia Research
Wonderful webinar! Last year, my stepfather passed away and he had been dealing with dementia/Alzheimer's for a good 8 years. During the progression of his illness, the signs and symptoms of dementia became much more aggressive and apparent. He was on a medication that slowed the progression and I do believe it worked for him. It really was a difficult journey for our family and for my stepfather. He wasn't eager to talk about his cognitive impairment. Looking back and early on, we all thought his cognitive impairment was a part of aging. After testing and many doctor's visits, he was diagnosed with dementia. He passed at 80 years of age. I would love to see more support groups as well as more open discussion of the clinical aspects of Alzheimer's drugs and their overall impact, so families have a better understanding of what's going on and what to expect.

评论了 The Cost of Leader Personal Financial Insecurity: Implications for Adaptive Team Performance
What a wonderful research article! I wasn't too surprised to see financial security being of concern due to inflation and many employees living paycheck to paycheck. However, I was a bit surprised to see that over 36% of employees, making $250,000 per year are living paycheck to paycheck. Based on the outcomes/results of the studies, it was quite fascinating to read that leaders' personal financial states do impact the teams that they lead and that a team's ability to adapt to changes and uncertainties can be undermined by their leader's personal financial insecurity.
