Summary: Germline BRCA1 and BRCA2 pathogenic variant carriers of epithelial ovarian cancer showed survival benefits after chemotherapy, indicating a higher sensitivity to treatment. However, these benefits were limited to a relatively short period after the diagnosis of epithelial ovarian cancer.

Summary: We developed two prognostic nomograms for predicting recurrence and long-term survival in patients with ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) after primary treatment, and validated them in patients from the same center. This tool, which uses variables specifically related to OCCC, was more accurate than the FIGO system, making it relatively easy to use in clinic for patient counseling, postoperative management, and follow-up for individual patients.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the safety and effect of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) on overall survival and progression-free survival in ovarian cancer treatments. The results showed a slight benefit in terms of survival and recurrence rates in favor of the HRT groups. However, subgroup analyses revealed no statistically significant results in terms of recurrence, but HRT remains advantageous in improving the quality of life for these patients.

Summary: This study explored the impact of the primary treatment sequence on the post-relapse survival and recurrence characteristics of recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer. The results showed that neoadjuvant chemotherapy and interval debulking surgery were associated with post-relapse survival and may lead to worse recurrence pattern and shorter platinum-free interval.

Summary: This study found a strong correlation between progression-free survival (PFS)/time to progression (TTP) and overall survival (OS) in the first-line treatment of advanced/recurrent endometrial cancer. Improvements in PFS/TTP are likely to translate into subsequent improvements in OS.

Summary: Ovarian cancer has a high mortality rate due to advanced diagnosis and high recurrence rate. Systemic chemotherapy is the standard treatment for recurrent ovarian cancer, but secondary cytoreductive surgery may also be effective. This study analyzed multiple randomized controlled trials and found significant improvements in overall survival and disease-free survival for patients who underwent complete secondary cytoreductive surgery.

Summary: The meta-analysis results revealed that in patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, treatment with anti-HER2 antibodies led to a prolongation of OS more than PFS, with the absolute increment in median OS time being double that of median PFS time, and this increase was linearly correlated, indicating the need for further investigation into the efficacy of anti-HER2 antibodies.

Summary: This study aimed to construct nomograms using data from the SEER database to predict overall survival and cancer-specific survival of ovarian carcinosarcoma (OCS) patients. The nomograms based on independent prognostic factors showed good predictive power and clinical practicality, outperforming traditional staging and grading systems. They enable personalized evaluation of OS and CSS, guiding treatment decisions.

Summary: This study investigated the prognostic significance of sarcopenia diagnosed based on anthropometric equations for PFS and OS in CRC patients. Sarcopenia was found to be significantly associated with advanced age, large tumor size, and high mortality. Compared to non-sarcopenic patients, sarcopenic patients had worse PFS and OS. Predictive models based on sarcopenia were effective in predicting adverse outcomes in CRC patients.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the individual-level association between real-world progression-free survival (rwPFS) and overall survival (OS) in female patients with metastatic breast cancer (mBC) according to first-line treatment. The results showed that the degree of association between PFS and OS varied across different subtypes and first-line treatments.

Summary: Biochemical recurrence in ovarian cancer, characterized by rising CA-125 levels without radiographic evidence of disease, poses a challenge in treatment strategies. Apatinib, either alone or in combination with chemotherapy, has shown efficacy in delaying clinical progression in recurrent ovarian cancer patients, particularly those with biochemical-only relapse. This study highlights the promising prospect of using apatinib to treat ovarian cancer patients with asymptomatic biochemical recurrence.

Summary: This study evaluated factors influencing post-progression survival in patients with advanced recurrent ovarian cancer, finding that platinum-sensitive patients had longer survival than platinum-resistant patients. The use of bevacizumab, secondary debulking surgery, and olaparib maintenance in recurrence were associated with increased post-progression survival.

Summary: This study investigated the NK cell receptor expression, their ligands, serum cytokines, and soluble ligands in primary and recurrent HGSOC patients. The results revealed differential immune profiles of primary and recurrent ovarian cancer patients, as well as alterations in tumor infiltrated immune cells. Summary: By analyzing large-scale health records data, we found that there are various disease trajectories following myocardial infarction (MI), with multiple circulatory diagnoses and neuro-psychiatric diagnoses being more common and associated with increased mortality. Early intervention, particularly focusing on psychological and behavioral pathways, for MI survivors can help mitigate adverse disease trajectories, multimorbidity, and premature mortality.

Summary: This international study examined the impact of global nutritional state on early postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing surgery for colorectal or gastric cancer. Severe malnutrition was found to be a risk factor for 30-day mortality and major complications following elective surgery, with a greater burden in low-income and lower-middle-income countries. Therefore, there is an urgent need for global nutritional interventions to improve early outcomes in patients with gastrointestinal cancer.
