Summary: The hybrid hydrogel dressing developed for localized delivery of MMP-9 siRNA showed significant reduction in MMP-9 expression and improved diabetic wound closure in diabetic rats. The dressing exhibited negligible cytotoxicity in vitro and sustained release of siMMP-9 for up to 7 days. This delivery system offers a platform for in vivo delivery of siRNA for the treatment of various diseases.

Summary: A novel in situ single molecule spectroscopy method based on fluorescent correlation spectroscopy (FCS) technique was proposed for measuring MMP-9 activity in single living cells. The method utilizes a fluorescent specific peptide and a reference dye as dual probes, and ratiometric translational diffusion time as the measurement parameter.

Summary: Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) play significant roles in solid tumor invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis, while their role in hematological malignancies is less understood. Recent studies have shown correlations between gelatinases and hematological malignancies, leading to the development of potential inhibitors for these conditions.

Summary: This study found that the plasmatic levels of MMPs and TIMPs were significantly altered in patients with CIDP, with higher concentrations of MMP-9, downregulation of TIMP-1, and lower concentration of MMP-2. These new biomarkers may have potential usefulness in the clinical setting and further studies are needed to confirm their utility.

Summary: This study investigated the expression of MMP-13, TWIST1, and CD44 in ESCC and found significant correlations with clinical features, such as tumor progression and invasion. The results suggest that the TWIST1-CD44-MMP-13 axis may be involved in tumor aggressiveness and could serve as diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets in ESCC.

Summary: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), especially MMP-9, play a significant role in cancer pathogenesis and progression. However, no effective MMP-9 inhibitor has been approved by the FDA. This review focuses on exploring the strategies for designing MMP-9 inhibitors and their anticancer effects.

Summary: Breast cancer, estimated as one of the most prevalent malignancies globally, poses a significant healthcare burden with incident cases on the rise. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) play a crucial role in breast carcinogenesis through various mechanisms, and phytochemicals have the potential to combat MMPs-induced breast cancer. The current systematic review focuses on natural lead molecules that can deter MMPs-provoked breast cancer, aiming to address limitations, challenges, and future directions in using these compounds for the management of the disease.

Summary: We have demonstrated a target-activated cascade transcription amplification method for label-free detection of metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) activity. This assay shows good specificity and high sensitivity, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.6 fM. Moreover, it can analyze enzyme kinetic parameters, screen inhibitors, and accurately quantify MMP-2 in cancer cells and clinical serums.
