Summary: Acute pancreatitis is a common gastrointestinal disease characterized by acute onset of abdominal pain, often leading to organ failure and death. Monocytes, a type of cells in the innate immune system, are highlighted as key contributors and regulators of the inflammatory response and organ failure in acute pancreatitis, with a special focus on lipid modulation.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of the combination of Cagrilintide and Semaglutide for weight management. Results showed that concomitant treatment with Cagrilintide and Semaglutide was well tolerated with an acceptable safety profile. Larger and longer trials are needed to fully assess the efficacy and safety of this treatment combination.

Summary: The study aimed to establish a risk score, DORM65, based on known variables to predict the likelihood of a positive endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) result in patients with idiopathic acute pancreatitis. The DORM65 score includes five predictors: delayed EUS, obesity, no repeated transabdominal ultrasound, male sex, and age >= 65 years. The score system accurately predicts the positive EUS result in patients with idiopathic acute pancreatitis.

Summary: There were differences in the types of weight loss strategies used by individuals over time, with variations in their popularity of use by sex and obesity status. Women and those with obesity were more likely to engage in weight loss practices, with diet-related weight loss being the most common and the use of weight loss drugs and products being the least common. The prevalence of exercise weight loss practices increased significantly among women with obesity.

Summary: Parental behavior plays a crucial role in child health and skill formation. This study examines the distributional effects of parental time allocation on children's outcomes, specifically socioemotional development and body mass index. The findings show significant heterogeneity in the returns to parental time investments, with a substantial improvement in socioemotional development for children at the bottom of the distribution. However, children with high developmental scores are unlikely to benefit from additional parenting time.

Summary: Acute pancreatitis is a significant cause of hospital admissions from gastrointestinal diseases in the United States, with proper management involving risk stratification, fluid and nutritional management. Early aggressive fluid resuscitation and enteral nutrition are associated with better outcomes, but the optimal fluid type and rate are still uncertain.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of temporary self-expanding metallic stent (SEMS) and angioembolization for refractory immediate ERCP-related bleeding. The results showed that temporary SEMS and angioembolization had similar success rates in hemostasis, but the angioembolization group required more blood transfusions.

Summary: This study compared the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) for non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) and warfarin. The results showed that NOACs patients had a lower risk of overall GIB than warfarin patients, but a higher risk of post-polypectomy GIB. Among NOACs, apixaban had the lowest risk of GIB.

Summary: Acute pancreatitis can vary in severity and have life-threatening complications. In order to improve the management of acute pancreatitis and contribute to healthcare improvements, the Korean Pancreatobiliary Association developed guidelines in 2013. However, challenging issues and new evidence have led to an extensive revision of the guidelines.

Summary: An inflammatory pseudotumor is a benign disease characterized by tumor-like lesions consisting of inflammatory cells including plasma cells and fibrous tissue. Some cases of inflammatory pseudotumor have been identified as Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD), which is a fibroinflammatory condition characterized by lymphoplasmacytic infiltration, predominance of IgG4-positive plasma cells, storiform fibrosis, and elevated serum IgG4 concentrations. We report a case of IgG4-RD in the form of an inflammatory pseudotumor in the liver with combined sclerosing cholangitis. Adequate tissue samples and clinical follow-up are recommended for accurate diagnosis of IgG4-RD.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical significance of hsa_circ_0003570 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and found that its expression was associated with tumor size, vessel invasion, tumor-node metastasis stage, Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage, and AFP level. In addition, high hsa_circ_0003570 expression was correlated with better overall survival and progression-free survival in patients with HCC.

Summary: Researchers have developed an innovative self-supervised learning algorithm that improves the differentiation of malignant and benign lesions, leading to increased accuracy in computer-assisted pancreatic cancer diagnosis. By utilizing a pseudo-lesion segmentation self-supervised learning model, the performance of convolutional neural network-based and transformer-based deep learning models was significantly enhanced. The study also found that self-supervised learning can improve the performance and robustness of the model on unseen and small datasets.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the recurrence rate of choledocholithiasis and identify risk factors for recurrent choledocholithiasis in patients following gastrectomy. The study found that the recurrence rate of choledocholithiasis was 14.5%, and the stone removal modality, no use of balloon sphincteroplasty, and the presence of periampullary diverticulum were significant risk factors for recurrent choledocholithiasis. Therefore, the study recommends using ERCP with active use of balloon sphincteroplasty to decrease recurrent CBD stones following gastrectomy.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship among ICC number, gallbladder contractibility, and gallstones in patients undergoing cholecystectomy. Results showed that male participants had a higher number of ICC in the mucosal layer compared to females, and larger gallbladder size was associated with decreased ICC in the muscular layer. The number of ICC in the muscular layer decreased with an increase in gallbladder stone number, but there was no significant correlation with other factors.
