Summary: This meta-analysis examined the relationship between LKB1 expression and clinicopathological parameters in gastric cancer patients, as well as the prognostic significance of LKB1. The analysis included 11 studies with a total of 1767 patients. The findings showed that LKB1 expression was significantly associated with tumor size, differentiation, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, and TNM stage. Low LKB1 expression was also correlated with a poor overall survival. LKB1 appears to be a valuable prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target in gastric cancer.

Summary: HOX genes are highly conserved transcription factors with key roles in early development and are also highly expressed in most cancers. Studies have found strong associations between HOX gene expression in tumors and clinical parameters, with high expression levels often associated with worse patient outcomes.

Summary: This study analyzed data from 1413 patients with colorectal cancer and found associations between tumor necrosis percentage and tumor characteristics, immune cell infiltrates, serum cytokine concentrations, as well as prognosis. The results showed that high tumor necrosis percentage is associated with shorter colorectal cancer-specific survival, independent of other factors. Tumor necrosis is therefore considered an important prognostic factor in colorectal cancer.

Summary: This study identifies Neuralized (NEURL) as a novel tumor suppressor gene that targets oncogenic Wnt/beta-catenin signaling in human cancers. NEURL expression is epigenetically regulated and suppressed in colorectal cancer. NEURL acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, interacting with oncogenic beta-catenin and reducing its cytoplasmic levels, thereby disrupting the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin pathway.

Summary: The study revealed a diverse set of myeloid cells within the PDAC tumor microenvironment, which are distributed heterogeneously across patient tumors. Beyond cell density, the spatial locations of immune cells are also associated with patient outcomes, underscoring the potential role of spatially resolved myeloid cell subtypes as quantitative biomarkers for PDAC prognosis and therapy.

Summary: This study reveals a complex regulation of MV shedding by tumor cells, with activated Cdc42 maintaining sustained EGF signaling and facilitating MV release. Inhibiting these signaling pathways effectively reduces MV shedding and significantly inhibits MV-promoted in vivo tumor angiogenesis, potentially contributing to strategies targeting MVs in cancer therapy.

Summary: The study found that osteopontin (OPN) splice variants have distinct prognostic value in gastric cancer and exhibit unique functions in gastric cancer cells. Specifically, high levels of OPN-a and OPN-b were associated with short overall survival and disease-free survival in gastric cancer patients, while low expression of OPN-c was linked to poor prognosis.

Summary: CACNA2D1 regulates the apoptosis signaling pathway, serving as a potential biomarker for cancer growth and therapeutic target for gastric cancer. Knocking down CACNA2D1 in the experiment suppressed cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while inducing apoptosis. High expression levels of CACNA2D1 were identified as an independent poor prognostic factor in GC patients.

Summary: This study investigated the role of pyroptosis-related genes in gastric cancer, and found that GSDME has prognostic significance in gastric cancer and interacts significantly with 16 lncRNAs. Experimental analysis showed that inhibiting GSDME expression can affect the growth and apoptosis of gastric cancer cells.

Summary: The study revealed that elevated expression of Kallikrein 5 (KLK5) in gastric cancer tissues was associated with tumor invasion depth and lymph node metastasis, leading to poorer overall survival in patients. KLK5 was identified as an independent risk factor in gastric cancer, and can promote tumor cell migration and invasion.

Summary: Immune checkpoint blockade has shown efficacy in multiple cancers, but further improvements are needed to increase response rates and achieve clinical efficacy in cold tumors. Mechanistic studies of tumor-specific immunosuppressive pathways can uncover biological barriers to immunotherapy and offer new therapeutic insights.
