Summary: Due to the ageing population, it is important to detect individuals at risk of frailty, dependence, and mortality for a personalized approach. This study presents three predictive models for frailty, dependency, and mortality in the general population. The identified risk factors include gender, chronicity level, marriage, educational level, and the Frail-VIG index. Health interventions should focus on reducing chronicity level, particularly in women, to prevent frailty and dependence, while an individualized approach is needed to delay mortality in frail individuals. Further research is necessary to identify other health and social risk factors.

Summary: This study developed new normative values for handgrip strength in the Colombian population based on sex, age, and body mass using data from a large national nutrition survey in 2015. Handgrip strength peaked in men at 26-33 years and in women at 25-33 years, declining with age in both sexes, with significant variations in slope around the ages of 25 and 35 in men and women, respectively. The normative values provided can be valuable for clinical assessment and comparison with studies from other countries.

Summary: A systematic review of 40 observational and case-controlled studies was conducted to determine if the screened randomized control studies fall within the normal range provided by internationally accepted guidelines. Forest plots illustrated a significant deviation in overall effect size compared to the computed reference ranges for various metabolic parameters, indicating the importance of categorizing metabolic parameters into subgroups when assessing the metabolic status of a random, diverse population.
