Summary: In this study, a comparative genomics strategy was used to construct a database containing thousands of polymorphic SSR loci for genetic identification and trait-association analysis of Chinese cherry. The results showed that these markers exhibited high levels of informativeness and transferability, and were significantly associated with traits such as soluble solids and fruit size in Chinese cherry.

Summary: This study successfully created gene-derived microsatellite markers for forage peanut and found high polymorphism and information content. The study also discovered sequences related to multiple gene ontology functional groups. Furthermore, the microsatellite markers showed variable transferability to peanut and other wild Arachis species.

Summary: Nepal's low citrus fruit production is attributed to a lack of elite varieties and cultivars. Breeding elite cultivars is crucial to meet the increasing demand for citrus fruits in Nepal. This study characterized the genetic diversity of 45 citrus accessions from the National Citrus Research Program using 12 SSR markers, and identified high genetic diversity. The findings of this research will be valuable for the conservation, molecular breeding, and sustainable utilization of citrus in Nepal.

Summary: The study on genome-wide SSR markers derived from cucumber provided valuable information on genetic diversity in 16 different cucurbits species, as well as comparative mapping with melon and watermelon. The large number of developed SSR markers in cucumber can be used for genetic linkage map construction, molecular mapping, and marker-assisted selection, while the cross-species transferable SSR markers could also be useful in other related species within the Cucurbitaceae family.

Summary: This study assessed the diversity among 22 maize inbreds using 18 microsatellite markers, and identified 187 alleles. The study found that the genetic diversity among maize inbreds is important for maize hybridization, and certain alleles have higher diversity. The study also identified markers that are most suitable for maize inbreds and can be used as parent materials for future hybrid maize breeding.

Summary: In this study, EST-SSRs within transcription factors in flare tree peony were developed using NGS and SMLRS. These EST-SSRs showed high informativeness in tree peony accessions and have potential applications in the conservation of tree peony germplasm and MAS breeding. Transferability studies indicated a high amplification ratio across different Paeonia species, and genetic relationship analysis confirmed the potential use of these new EST-SSRs for genetic studies in tree peonies.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic diversity and structure of Albanian olive germplasm using 26 microsatellite markers. The findings revealed that Albanian olive germplasm is a unique gene pool and provides an interesting genetic basis for breeding programs. A core collection of 57 genotypes representing all allelic richness found in Albanian germplasm was developed for the first time.
