Summary: Recent research suggests that dosage compensation on the X chromosome scales phenotypic effects between the sexes, with incomplete dosage compensation potentially leading to female-biased effects on X-linked alleles.

Summary: Wolbachia, an intracellular bacteria in insects, can manipulate sexual development and reproduction. A recently identified protein, Oscar, interacts with the Masc protein and interferes with dosage compensation, leading to male killing in lepidopteran insects.

Summary: In this study, it was demonstrated that CLAMP promotes the three-dimensional clustering of MSLc binding sites. Additionally, the X-enriched CLAMP protein was found to promote longer-range three-dimensional interactions on the X-chromosome more strongly than on autosomes. Genome-wide, CLAMP is shown to facilitate three-dimensional interactions between active chromatin regions along with other insulator proteins.

Summary: Hybrid lethality, a postzygotic mechanism of reproductive isolation, is caused by epistatic interaction of genes and can lead to death of F-1 hybrid seedlings. In Nicotiana genus, HLA1 locus causing hybrid lethality was mapped between two DNA markers, with a 682 kb interval in the genome sequence of N. benthamiana.

Summary: Research has shown that despite the evolution of male heterogamety in certain gecko species, gene expression imbalance still exists. This suggests that gene dosage regulatory mechanisms may be related to the general mechanisms of sex determination rather than the type of sex chromosome heterogamety.

Summary: Many approved drugs, such as statins, have multiple effects and interact with poorly understood genetic networks. Using the yeast genetic model, this study investigated genetic interactions in two statin-resistant genetic backgrounds, identifying genes related to dysregulated endocytosis and autophagic cell death. The findings may provide potential drug targets for cancer treatment.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the influence of abnormal semen parameters on embryo aneuploidy using a single nucleotide polymorphism microarray (SNP array). The results showed that abnormal semen parameters may affect embryo quality and increase the rate of aneuploidy in blastocyst chromosomes.

Summary: Genetic ancestry is a consistent predictor of opposite-sex affiliative behavior in baboons, with increased anubis genetic ancestry associated with a higher probability of such behavior. Furthermore, pairs of anubis-like males and anubis-like females were more likely to socially affiliate, suggesting that affiliative behavior may promote and constrain baboon admixture through genetic effects.

Summary: In many domains, continuous streams of data are generated by systems during their execution, which include valuable telemetry information. Deep learning models have been increasingly successful in utilizing this data for tasks like preemptive failure detection. However, these models lack guarantees over their execution and interpretability, which is problematic in critical contexts. To address these challenges, we propose a framework that combines monitoring, a lightweight runtime verification technique, with machine learning to automatically derive relevant properties and anticipate critical system behaviors in an online setting using Signal Temporal Logic formulas.

Summary: The objective of this study was to investigate the genetic inheritance of growth traits in Mazandaran native chickens by assessing autosomal and sex-linked genetic effects. It was found that there was no significant sex-linked additive genetic effect on body weight at hatching (BW0), while for body weight at 8 weeks (BW8) and 12 weeks (BW12), a model including autosomal, sex-linked direct additive, and maternal effects without global dosage compensation on the Z chromosome was the most appropriate. The heritability estimates for autosomal effects were relatively low, while the estimates for sex-linked effects were higher, particularly for BW12. There were positive genetic correlations among all traits, and a high genetic correlation between BW8 and BW12 due to sex-linked effects. Maternal genetic correlations were also observed between different body weight traits.

Summary: Chromosome rearrangement is a major cause of abortion, especially in individuals with double chromosomal rearrangements. We conducted preimplantation genetic testing for structural rearrangement (PGT-SR) on a couple with recurrent abortion and found a cryptic balanced chromosomal rearrangement in the male. Optical genome mapping (OGM) was performed to confirm the results, which showed consistency with the previous PGT findings. Compared to traditional methods like karyotyping, chromosomal microarray, CNV-seq, and FISH, OGM has significant advantages in detecting cryptic and balanced chromosomal rearrangements.

Summary: The study aimed to manufacture hybrid composites with superior ballistic performance and analyze their viscoelastic and mechanical response. Various composites were manufactured from different fabrics and analyzed through static bending and dynamic mechanical analysis. The study also proposed a new mathematical function for high accuracy in time-temperature superposition analysis.
