Summary: Dark septate endophytes (DSEs) are a group of fungi that colonize the roots of plants in stressful environments, and they possess adaptation strategies to tolerate heavy metal contamination, drought, and salinity. They form mutualistic relationships with plants, improving plant growth and physiology. Additionally, DSEs can improve soil quality and aid in phytoremediation of contaminated soils.

Summary: Individuals differ in many aspects, and these differences are not only due to individual traits, but also to individual stochasticity. Environmental conditions influence individual heterogeneity and stochasticity, thus affecting the demographic outcomes of populations.

Summary: This study examines the impact of consumer confidence on stockpiling behavior and retail inventory management. It shows that during the Great Recession, decreased consumer confidence led to changes in stockpiling behavior, which in turn affected inventory management. The changes in stockpiling behavior added complexity to inventory planning, requiring retailers to carefully adjust inventory levels to maintain service levels.

Summary: The current research demonstrates how the level of preexisting commitment to a goal determines whether regulatory nonfit is motivating or demotivating. People with low preexisting commitment are demotivated by nonfit, while those with high commitment are motivated by nonfit. This study also provides evidence for underlying mechanisms and shows how naturally occurring variance in preexisting goal commitment moderates the effect of regulatory nonfit on subsequent goal-directed behavior.

Summary: This study reveals that short-term desiccation-rewetting affects methanotrophic activity, although the activity and community composition of methanotrophs recover after the disturbance. However, the interaction network structure undergoes significant changes during this process, which may have consequences for community functioning.

Summary: Research shows that economic reform programs globally increase national well-being in both the short-term and long-term. However, the findings do not suggest that International Monetary Fund arrangements should be used as policy tools to increase national well-being, as improving economies to sustain increased well-being requires intentional effort and engagement.

Summary: In times of turbulent public sector change and frequent career shifts, the relationship between attitudes towards workplace change, organizational identification, and turnover intent is highly relevant but poorly understood. Sceptical perceptions of workplace change and strong organizational identification together lead to an increase in turnover intentions at the organizational level, highlighting the potentially destructive impact of workplace changes.

Summary: The study found that high-power participants are more likely to make decisions quicker, adopt alternative-based strategies, perceive tasks as easier, and have higher confidence and satisfaction in their decisions under high-choice conflict and high-cognitive load conditions. Power does not affect decision-making under low-choice conflict and no-cognitive load conditions.

Summary: The study found that time pressure and performance pressure impaired Quiet Eye (QE) characteristics, regardless of the expertise levels of the basketball players tested. Time pressure also resulted in a decrease in free throw accuracy. The match between task demands and the ability to cope seemed to play a role in QE, especially in competitive elite players.

Summary: Experiencing difficulty in achieving goals depends on how we perceive and experience the timing of difficult events. Motivation and goal-directed behavior are influenced by the interaction of time perception and interpretations of experienced difficulty. A comprehensive model integrating these factors can better help understand motivation and predict behavior.

Summary: Brucella is a facultatively intracellular bacterial pathogen that can evade the immune system and persist chronically within host cells. B. canis and B. ovis, despite being rough lipopolysaccharide phenotypes, exhibit full virulence in natural hosts and are able to manipulate the host immune response. Compensations for their roughness include alterations to outer membrane proteins, potentially enhancing stealth and allowing for longer periods of undetected persistence.
