Summary: This study aimed to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of biportal endoscopic with that of open microscopic discectomy in patients with single-level herniated lumbar discs. The results showed that there was no significant difference in pain and functional recovery between the biportal group and the microscopy group at the 12-month follow-up, indicating the non-inferiority of biportal endoscopic discectomy. The biportal group also had fewer surgery-related adverse events.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of triamcinolone-impregnated absorbable nasal packing on healing following endoscopic sinus surgery. The results showed no significant difference in healing, crusting, polyps, edema, or secretions between the sinuses treated with triamcinolone and those without. Further studies will be needed to determine the impact of triamcinolone-impregnated absorbable packing following ESS.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of performing endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES) before biliary stent/tube placement on the occurrence of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis (PEP). The results showed that performing ES before biliary stent/tube placement could reduce the occurrence of PEP in patients with biliary stricture.

Summary: This study aimed to assess postoperative outcomes and validate the simple endoscopic score to predict Crohn's disease (CD) patients' disease-related outcomes. The findings showed that patients with colon-dominant disease had a higher risk of postoperative clinical recurrence, and SES-CD was effective in predicting postoperative clinical recurrence in CD patients.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the optimal surveillance interval after colorectal cancer p-EMR treatment. The results showed no significant difference in recurrence detection between 6-month and 3-month surveillance intervals. A strict surveillance protocol of 6-, 12-, and 24-month follow-up post-EMR can reduce the surgical recurrence rate.
