Summary: This study used WB-LSMS data from 2009 to 2020 to examine the relationship between agricultural extension advisory service (AEAS) and food security. By setting up a treated and control group and applying difference-in-difference and kernel PSM-DID analysis, the results confirmed a positive relationship between AEAS and food security. Factors such as capital, finance, and region were found to hinder households from engaging in AEAS. Policy implications for integrating AEAS and food security are outlined.

Summary: Severe erosion in major agricultural sectors and areas of concentrated intense rainfall highlights the need for a more environmentally friendly agricultural model. This research evaluates the impact of soil and water conservation practices on food consumption and intake at the household level. The results show that the adoption of these practices can significantly increase the food consumption score and calorie intake at the household level.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of the Koga irrigation development project on household food security in Ethiopia. The results show that while irrigation has a positive impact on household annual income, it does not significantly affect household food security. The study also found that increasing income in irrigation agriculture may not necessarily ensure multidimensional household food security.

Summary: Food aid is crucial for meeting basic human needs and ensuring food security, but studies suggest that it may lead to violent conflicts in recipient countries. However, current research lacks a compelling identification strategy and fails to identify the channels through which food aid influences conflict.

Summary: The study found a significant decrease in food consumption expenditure in the years following the cessation of hostilities in Northern Uganda, with households relying more on market purchases and transfers. The reduction in food consumption expenditure was still evident six years later, with households continuing to rely on external sources for sustenance. Efforts to improve agricultural production and provide social safety nets are recommended for assisting household recovery post-conflict.

Summary: Food systems in the northern border of Uganda, where South Sudan refugees and host communities live, were found to be problematic. Linear regression analysis revealed that larger land access was associated with diverse crop production and selling, while selling more types of crops was related to higher agriculture income, but not significantly correlated with food consumption score (FCS). The findings suggest that diversifying crops and enhancing marketing channels could help establish resilient food systems for both host and refugee communities.

Summary: This study examined the association of household food insecurity with nutritional status and mental health among early-gestation pregnant women in Bangladesh. Results showed that pregnant women from food-insecure households were shorter, lighter, and had lower mid-upper arm circumference compared to their food-secure counterparts, and also had higher odds of depression, anxiety, and stress. The findings suggest the importance of public health measures focusing on ensuring proper nutrition to mitigate the adverse effects of food insecurity on women's health during critical growth periods and pregnancy.
