Summary: European heritage breeds, especially the Mangalica pig, exhibit superior qualities in terms of fatness and pork quality, making them suitable for niche markets in the United States. Comparisons between purebred Yorkshire, Blonde, Red, and Swallow-bellied Mangalica pigs revealed that purebred Mangalica pigs displayed better growth performance and carcass quality. Additionally, comparing meat quality indicators in purebred and crossbred pigs demonstrated that purebred Mangalica pork had superior attributes compared to crossbred pigs.

Summary: Growth hormone (GH) affects metabolism and growth. GH deficiency (GHD) in children leads to diminished height velocity and short stature. GH treatment in adults with GHD has established benefits on body composition, such as increasing muscle mass and decreasing fat mass. However, there are limited studies on the effects of GH treatment on body composition in pediatric patients with idiopathic or hypothalamic-pituitary disease-associated GHD.

Summary: The data on chemical body composition of cattle play a vital role in determining energy and nutrient requirements. This study focused on growing Fleckvieh bulls and found that their body composition changed as they grew, with increases in fat tissue and ether extract. While various body tissues decreased proportionately during growth, muscle and tendon proportions remained constant. The bulls exhibited enhanced growth potential and high muscle and protein gain within the studied weight range. Metabolizable protein requirements in relation to energy decreased as the animals' live weight increased.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Astragalus membranaceus polysaccharide (AMP) on the growth performance, body composition and non-specific immune index of white shrimps (Litopenaeus vannamei). The results demonstrated that AMP with appropriate dose could promote the growth of shrimps and improve their disease resistance.

Summary: Given the impact of COVID-19, community resilience has become increasingly important. A smart tourism city can enhance community resilience by utilizing available community resources. This study provides empirical evidence on the spatial spillover effects of sport industry clusters as community resources. The findings reveal the significant spatial spillover effects, which can provide policymakers and practitioners with spatial information to enhance community resilience.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of replacing fishmeal with Clanis bilineata larvae (CBL) on the growth performance and immune index of white shrimps. The results showed that moderate levels of CBL improved the growth performance and immune response of shrimps, while high levels of CBL had a negative effect.

Summary: This article presents a validated model to study the influence of humidity on formaldehyde sorption of building material and the effect of formaldehyde and moisture buffering capacity of hygroscopic porous material on indoor air environment. The developed numerical model considers the impact of RH on VOC diffusion in building materials, and can be used to optimize the hygric performance and IAQ in building. The results highlight the importance of moisture and formaldehyde buffering capacity in selecting clean and hygroscopic building materials in building design.

Summary: Firefighting tasks may require high levels of cardiorespiratory fitness. Previous research has shown that body fat percentage and aerobic capacity are related to performance in these tasks. This study found significant relationships between body fat percentage, aerobic capacity, and maximal treadmill test time, indicating that submaximal effort tests may not capture important physiological work at intensities greater than 85% maximal heart rate.

Summary: The maximal exercise capacity of heart transplant recipients, measured by peak oxygen consumption, is limited compared to healthy age-matched controls. This study found that changes in body composition, specifically lean mass normalized to body weight, can explain 45% of the variance in peak oxygen consumption. Lifestyle changes to combat adiposity and reducing calcineurin inhibitor doses may positively impact muscle mass adaptation in heart transplant recipients.

Summary: The study found that adding 5% almond hulls showed the best effect on broiler body weight gain at 19 days, and it can also reduce body fat content. Increasing the almond hull inclusion level has some impact on the relative intestine weight and liver antioxidant capacity of broilers, but does not have negative effects on growth performance.

Summary: Perioperative malnutrition is common and can lead to increased mortality, complications, and healthcare costs. A survey of Perioperative Medicine Leads in the UK showed that while many use screening tools, only around half refer patients at nutritional risk to dietitians. Improved assessment and management of malnutrition in the perioperative period could lead to better outcomes for patients undergoing elective surgery.

Summary: The study found that the sensitivity and specificity of bioelectrical impedance in detecting low-intake dehydration varied considerably depending on the total body water percentage threshold used to ascertain dehydration status. While some studies supported the utility of the technique compared to conventional measures of hydration status, the scarcity of literature and inconsistency between findings make it difficult to determine the value of bioelectrical impedance for detecting low-intake dehydration in older inpatients.
